New “Inside the Trojans’ Huddle” (Tues./June 6) edition: Analyzing USC’s recent commits, ranking the 2023 Pac-12 coaches and schedule, kickoff times perspectives, Salute to Troy and the USC Athletic Hall of Fame, viewers’ questions and panel answers

In Tuesday’s edition of “Inside the Trojans’ Huddle,” panelists Mark Kulkin, Erik McKinney, Chris Arledge, and Greg Katz analyze the recent flurry of recruiting commitments, the panel ranks the 2023 Pac-12 head football coaches and schedule, kickoff times perspective, air-conditioned helmets, Salute to Troy and the USC Athletic Hall of Fame, and viewers’ questions and panel answers.
In the first half of the Huddle, the panel gives their thoughts and opinions regarding the flurry of commitments from recruits from last weekend that spanned both coasts. You don’t think that the Trojans didn’t catch the attention of the SEC with commits from players from Georgia and Florida? The panel gives its take on the recruiting haul from both across the country and locally. The panel also gives its assessment whether last weekend’s huge recruiting success manifests itself throughout the balance of June official visits.
The first half of the Huddle transitions into ranking the 2023 Pac-12 coaches from 12-to-1. Did Lincoln Riley get the unanimous pick as the top coach in the conference? Who were his biggest conference challengers for the title of the No.1 coach in the Pac-12? What place did “Prime Time” come in? How about UCLA’s Chip Kelly, Washington’s Kalen DeBoer, and Oregon’s Dan Lanning? What a minute, what about Oregon State’s Jonathan Smith? And seriously, how could Utah’s Kyle Whittingham not be the top-rated coach in the conference, having won the last two conference titles and having beaten Lincoln Riley twice in 2022?
Halftime brings some quick-hitter questions. What did the panel think of the opening three games’ kickoff times and was “heat” a factor in the discussion? Who will be the team captains for the 2023 Trojans? Who has the worst looking home and away jerseys in the Pac-12? And should USC take a cue from LSU and get air-conditioned helmets?
The second half of the Huddle turns to another rankings question to be answered. The panel is asked to rank the 2023 opponents according to their strengths and weaknesses. Who is the easiest “No. 12” opponent on the schedule, and who is the toughest opponent in 2023? Is there a massive debate on who is the hardest team on the schedule? Here’s a hint: Think road games.
The second half continues with which 2023 opponent is the “trap game”? There is unanimous agreement on this question. The panel then tries to answer when is Salute to Troy? And, what about no USC Athletic Hall of Fame inductees since 2018? What’s going on here? Why no announcement on both Salute to Troy and the USC Athletic Hall of Fame?
In Overtime, panelists answer some viewers’ questions pertaining to how many “silent commitments” does USC have. Who are the “must-win” games if the Trojans lose a game or two in the second half of the schedule? A viewer asks how much “stock” does the panel put into national recruiting team rankings? There are some interesting answers to all the aforementioned questions.
