Nebraska re-enters coaches’ poll
Sometimes it pays to take a few days off.
Nebraska football players have had the weekend off from action and practice. But they once again can say they’re a top 25 team, as they re-entered the US LBM Coaches Poll at No. 25.
The Huskers are 5-1 overall and 2-1 in the Big Ten as they eye a matchup Saturday against upstart Indiana (6-0, 3-0), which also was off Saturday.
Nebraska benefited from losses by Oklahoma and Utah, which both tumbled from the coaches’ poll. The Sooners (4-2, 1-2 Big 12) lost a 34-3 decision to top-ranked Texas, while the Utes (4-2, 1-2) dropped a 27-19 verdict Friday at Arizona State.
Nebraska was ranked 22nd in the coaches’ poll before an overtime loss to Illinois on September 20.
Texas, Oregon, and Penn State — each with a 6-0 record — occupy the top three spots of the coaches’ ratings.
The Associated Press Top 25 also will be released Sunday.
