Nebraska QB commitment TJ Lateef honored by Elite 11 invite
Nebraska quarterback commitment TJ Lateef from Orange County (Calif.) Lutheran High School received an Elite 11 invite on Monday night. The four-star recruit, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, is the third quarterback in two years to receive an Elite 11 invitation. Lateef was honored with his selection but knows the work is not over.
“It’s a blessing!” Lateef said. “It feels great to get the invite to the Elite 11, but there is still a lot of work that I have to do. It is definitely a blessing for me.”
To receive an honor like an Elite 11 blessing means something different to Lateef. This is an opportunity to show out and compete against the nation’s best quarterbacks.
“I think that this is another opportunity to compete against the best. There is a reason why people get invited to it. They are all great quarterbacks and you put them all in that space and give them a chance to compete. You will be able to see who produces and who doesn’t.”

TJ Lateef comments on his commitment to Nebraska
Lateef went silent following his official visit to Nebraska and committed to the Huskers on Mother’s Day two weeks later. He and his family love the environment at Nebraska.
“I felt welcome and I felt like it was a place that I could go and stay on track,” Lateef said. “It’s somewhere that my family felt safe with me being there in that environment and not being there with me.”
The big-picture goal for Lateef is to choose the right place to play college football to get the development he needs that will help get him ready for the NFL. Lateef feels excellent about the coaching staff in Lincoln to help him get to the next level.
“I feel like having a coach that has been there (the pros) helps as opposed to a coach that hasn’t been. Nebraska is a great place for me to go get developed and produce on the field and make it to the next level which is everyone’s dream.”
Lateef took his official visit to Nebraska on a significant recruiting weekend. Other official visitors with him included Michael Terry, Cortez Mills, and Emmanuel Choice. He says that he’s heard from all of the receiver targets since he committed to Nebraska and is working on bringing them to Lincoln.
“That is what I am cooking on right now,” Lateef said. “I have stayed in touch with them, and I am trying to bring all of the guys in with me.”
