Nebraska QB commit Daniel Kaelin and TE target Carter Nelson visited Nebraska on Saturday
BELLEVUE, Neb. – Nebraska’s Memorial Day weekend started with a bang on Saturday. The Huskers hosted two key recruits in Lincoln for an unofficial visit.
2024 Bellevue West NU quarterback commit Daniel Kaelin came to Lincoln to help the Huskers host four-star Ainsworth tight end target Carter Nelson.

Kaelin was also a part of the Warren Academy Quarterback Camp on Saturday at Bellevue West, where he talked more about the imprompt visit to Lincoln.
“That’s obviously the top-ranked guy in the state,” Kaelin said of Nelson. “We want to keep him home for sure. Some of the coaches told me he was coming up. I text him all the time. We are pretty close. I’m sure if he lived in the area, we’d be even closer. They told me he was coming up and I knew I could fit it in before this (QB) camp.”
Kaelin added he will do whatever it takes to help the Huskers staff out in recruiting in the coming weeks.
“I’ve already been texting and Facetiming a bunch of recruits,” Kaelin said. “Whether it’s in-state or out-of-state. I was just up at the facility with Carter Nelson this morning. I told them I want to be at every official visit weekend and at least stop by once. Any guys coming up, I want to be there to help the staff recruit because I know how much time they put into it.
“I’m a firm believer I’m only as good as the guys around me. The more talent I can get around me, that will obviously help the team and me as a whole be more successful.”
Kaelin recaps a special week
Not only did Kaelin commit to Nebraska this past week, but he also received an invite to the prestigious Elite 11 quarterback camp later this month.
“I can only describe it as a dream,” Kaelin said of the last week. “Obviously, committing to Nebraska this last week was another dream come true for me. Obviously, getting that commitment off my chest felt really good. Then I got the news that I made the Elite 11 finals on Wednesday. That’s something I’ve been watching for as long as I can remember.
“To know that I’m going to be able to participate in that and be a part of that QB fraternity. So many top guys have gone through that, so I’m really excited. It’s been a great week.”
Will Hall and McMorris follow Kaelin to Nebraska?
Both 2024 Bellevue West wide receivers Isaiah McMorris and Dae’vonn Hall were also at the Warren Academy event on Saturday. The pair remains undecided in their recruiting process.
The only official visit Hall and McMorris told HuskerOnline they have set is to Nebraska on the June 23 weekend.
However, Hall will camp at Tennessee on June 4, hoping to earn an offer, he said. He also continues to look at Arkansas and Texas A&M.
McMorris said he talks to teams like USC, but the Huskers are recruiting him the hardest.
“The Huskers stand at the top of my list,” McMorris said. “I talk to Coach (Matt) Rhule and Coach (Garret McGuire), really the whole coaching staff. I keep in contact with them almost every single day and every week. I really like them a lot. They are one of my top schools for sure.
“They are at the top of who’s recruiting me the most. Penn State, USC, Nebraska and Oklahoma – those are the schools recruiting me the most.”
Kaelin said he’s going to continue two work on his teammates as well and is looking forward to their scheduled visit together in Lincoln later this month.
“I’m on them all the time,” Kaelin said. “Obviously I’m trying to paint a picture we can do what we are doing now at the next level and how special it would be to do it in our home state and get Nebraska going again. At the end of the day, they have to make their own decisions, but I feel pretty good bout those guys and would love to team up with them in college just like high school.”
