It’s been a day for Omaha (Neb.) Creighton Prep tight end Michael Burt. The 6-foot-5.5 and 226-pound Burt is the fourth tight end from Nebraska to land a P5 or G5 offer and the third tight end to pick up an offer from Nebraska.
The lid is finally blowing off of Creighton Prep Michael Burt. Burt, who has had some FCS/I-AA and G5 offers, picked up his first P5 offer from Minnesota earlier on Monday.
Iowa has had the ability to dip into Nebraska recently and lure talent to Iowa City. One of the top examples is Noah Fant from Omaha South. Fant picked up an offer from Nebraska. The Huskers were recruiting Fant as a defensive end, and Iowa saw Fant on offense and out-recruited Nebraska to get Fant. Iowa offered Burt following a camp in Iowa City.

Two hours later, Burt picked up an offer from Minnesota when PJ Fleck and the Gophers extended their offer. Burt and his family left Iowa City and headed north to Minneapolis when he picked up the offer from Minnesota today on an unofficial visit.
There has been a very abbreviated timeline for Matt Rhule and his staff to finish the 2023 class and begin on the 2024 group. Rhule was announced as the head coach the day after Thanksgiving in 2022. New offers for Nebraska for 2024 recruits are still trickling out as Nebraska puts together its board.
The Huskers have offers out to Carter Nelson from Ainsworth (Neb.) and Eric Ingwerson from Papillion (Neb.) Papillion – La Vista. Nelson visited Georgia this past weekend. Ingwerson is already committed to Pitt and set an official visit to Nebraska, but he may have solidified his commitment to the Panthers during his time in Pittsburgh.
The Huskers have a commitment from tight end Ian Flynt. Flynt, from Katy (Texas) Taylor committed to Nebraska in April and is being looked at to play more of an in-line tight end position. On the other hand, Burt looks more like Carter Nelson, who is a flex-style tight end. Burt could move between wide receiver alignments to more of an in-line tight end and even play more of an H or F based on personnel and play call for Matt Rhule and Nebraska.
