Nebraska baseball snags commitment from Millard South RHP Noah Gartner

Earlier this week, Nebraska baseball continued its heavy local trend within the 2025 recruiting class. Noah Gartner, a right-handed pitcher, announced his commitment to the Huskers on Wednesday evening.

“They just told me they liked my arm,” Gartner told HuskerOnline. “They liked how I threw and wanted me to get down to the camp on August 6. So I went down to the camp on August 6 and that’s pretty much when they gave me the offer.”

While there were other teams that reached out to Gartner once the contact period opened at the start of August, Nebraska showed him the greatest amount of interest. Gartner performed well at the Huskers’ camp in what was the capstone of an eventful summer.

The Millard South product picked up his offer on the heels of participating in the Future Games in Atlanta, Georgia. Gartner was one of eight other Nebraskan’s selected to the event.

Climbing velocity is another improvement of note. Gartner’s fastball touched 92 mph this summer and now ranges between 87-90 mph. He was able to put that heater on display at Nebraska’s camp along with a slider at 75 mph and a changeup between 80-81 mph.

After Gartner’s addition, the 2025 class features nine commits and eight hail from the Cornhusker State. It’s something he hopes will ease the transition to the collegiate level.

“I don’t know them that well, but I’ve played a little bit with some of them,” Gartner said. “Knowing that they’re from the same town, I think it’d be pretty cool and it’ll be easy to bond with them once we’re all there.”

Between his future in Lincoln and the present, Gartner has some things he hopes to refine. Staying in the weight room and building up his velocity is one. Developing his off-speed is included. Location is another.

“My biggest thing I had to work on this year was accuracy and that’s still pretty much what I’m focusing on,” Gartner said. “It’s gotten a lot better. I’m not worried about it too much but that’s pretty much my one thing I’d say that I’m working on.”

Gartner currently stands at 6-foot-1 and 190 pounds. He’ll add his arm to a 2025 list that includes the likes of right-handed pitchers Jace Ziola (Omaha Skutt) and Ty Miller (Olathe West), as well as southpaws Cal Cooper (Elkhorn South), Sam Huff (Elkhorn North) and Brett Hoelscher (Papillion-La Vista).

“I grew up watching football being a Husker fan just from Nebraska,” Gartner said. “Being able to stay home, still be close to family and knowing a lot of the people that are going there I think it means a lot. It’ll be really cool.”
