NC State recruiting board update: Linebacker

NC State’s defense places a ton of responsibility on the linebackers. Tony Gibson’s 3-3-5 system put former All-ACC stars Payton Wilson, Isaiah Moore and Drake Thomas in positions to make plenty of plays over the past few years.

That proven production helps the Pack on the recruiting trail. NC State prefers to sign three linebackers in every recruiting cycle. Over the past couple of years, those prospects did not emerge until the late spring or summer.

Going into official visit season, the Pack is focused on a pair of linebackers who are scheduled to officially visit the program in June.

The scoop: NC State was a part of a strong surge in Braker’s recruitment over the past few months. He holds more than 20 Division-I offers right now and scheduled a handful of official visits. The linebacker does not have a firm timeline for a decision yet, and it seems like his recruitment remains wide open as more schools continue to extend scholarships. Braker would play SAM or WILL with the Wolfpack. The program’s proximity to home and the university’s academics both caught his attention.

Ranking: Unranked
Height/weight: 6-1, 215 pounds
School: Riverview (Fla.) Sumner High

The scoop: White holds an impressive offer list and picked up his Wolfpack scholarship Mar. 1. The linebacker said he wants to feel like a priority at his future school, and NC State is showing strong, consistent interest right now. That’s part of the reason why he locked in his mid-week official visit. The Pack’s track record with developing Wilson left a positive impression. Head coach Dave Doeren is also playing a significant role in his recruitment. White tentatively plans on making his commitment before his senior season, and NC State can establish itself as a contender on this official visit.
