NC State Newsstand: Kanoah Vinesett named ACC Specialist of the Week
After waiting two years to become NC State’s starting place kicker — and to earn a scholarship — redshirt sophomore Kanoah Vinesett has impressed in the role. Now, he’s been awarded ACC Specialist of the Week honors after a stellar performance this past weekend.
Vinesett, who made just one extra point in his first two seasons with the Pack as a reserve kicker, accounted for 12 of the Wolfpack’s 30 points this past weekend. He went 3-for-3 on field goal attempts against Louisiana Tech, including a career-long 52-yarder — the 10th longest in program history.
The Rock Hill, S.C., native was also perfect on extra points against the Bulldogs. He has helped extend NC State’s consecutive point after streak to 257 in a row, the longest such streak in Division I football.
Vinesett is the Pack’s second weekly award winner this season after sophomore wide receiver KC Concepcion was named the Receiver of the Week after the Pack’s season-opening win over Western Carolina. Vinesett is the first Wolfpack player to take home a Specialist of the Week honor since Chris Dunn did it in November 2022.

Bailey played the second half in NC State’s comeback win over Louisiana Tech. Wolfpack coach Dave Doeren was happy to see the freshman handle himself well in his first game action.
“It’s what he’s done in practice, so it’s great to know that the stuff he does in practice carries into the game,” Doeren said. “Obviously, you’re not getting hit in practice as a quarterback. He’s a tough kid, he’s competitive. … But he’s been like that since he got here.”
