NC State Newsstand: Justin Joly named to John Mackey Award Watch List
NC State redshirt junior tight end Justin Joly is ready to make an impact with the Wolfpack, but his skill set has already been recognized on a national level. The former UConn transfer was named to the 2024 John Mackey Award Watch List, which honors the best tight end in college football, ahead of the fall campaign.
During the 2023 season, Joly logged 578 receiving yards and two touchdowns on 56 receptions with the Huskies. That built off a redshirt freshman campaign where Joly had 18 receptions for 250 yards and two scores.
The tight end’s breakout campaign allowed Joly to become the No. 2e ranked transfer at his position according to the On3 Industry Rankings. He is projected to start for the Wolfpack at the flex-y position this fall.
The John Mackey Award is named after the five-time Pro Bowl selection, who became the second-ever tight end to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1992. The award will be announced at The Home Depot College Football Awards Show in December, and it will be televised live on ESPN.
