NC State commitment analysis: Wide receiver Jamar Browder

NC State picked up its first wide receiver commitment of the 2025 recruiting class when Jamar Browder shut down his recruitment and joined the Pack. The 6-5 pass catcher will add dynamic height to the Wolfpack offense.

Browder is unranked with On3 for now, but the NC State staff is super intrigued by his skill set and made him a top priority after watching him practice at Lake Worth (Fla.) Santaluces Community High earlier this spring.

He is the third offensive commit of the class and the sixth member of the class overall.

Who’s left on NC State’s wide receiver board?

Browder was the first wide receiver to officially visit the Pack this summer. The Wolfpack is still recruiting four-star prospects Shamarius Peterkin and Malik Clark, plus three-star recruits Arrion Concepcion and Jerel Bolder.

All three of those prospects remain slated to visit June 21-23. After signing five receivers in the 2024 class, it remains unclear how many the program plans to take this cycle.

TheWolfpacker.com continues to feel confident in its NC State RPM picks for Bolder and Concepcion. Peterkin is also trending towards the Pack, while Clark appears to be a long shot.

Browder catches pretty much everything

The Wolfpack wide receiver commit’s catch radius at 6-5 is extremely impressive. At his height, he still has impressive athleticism that allows him to climb the ladder and grab passes that would simply be out of reach for most prospects. Browder tracks the ball well and makes grabs away from his body. He should be able to contribute in the red zone pretty much immediately.

Improved speed will raise his ceiling

For his height, Browder gets in and out of his breaks quickly. He is shifty enough to create separation in short spaces and he’s a plus route runner as well. Many of his catches are vertical routes down the sideline. NC State views him as an outside receiver, so his role in Raleigh could be similar. He does not separate on most of the vertical routes on his highlight reel, but that does not often matter because he consistently wins 50/50 balls. If his speed improves while in Raleigh, he has game-changing potential.
