NASCAR Power Rankings: Tyler Reddick locks up second Championship 4 spot

NASCAR Power Rankings: Tyler Reddick locks up second Championship 4 spot

Only two more weeks left in the NASCAR season and out Power Rankings are once again shifting. Not a lot of movement up top, but throughout the top-10. Tyler Reddick showed up in a big way and locked up the second of four Championship 4 spots.

Drivers are putting up their best performances of the season right now. Crew chiefs are pulling out all of the stops and doing whatever they can to give their drivers an advantage.

We only have a couple of NASCAR Power Rankings left in the season. Who will end up on the top of the rankings at the end of the year?

1. Christopher Bell – Joe Gibbs Racing (-)

Christopher Bell has not locked himself into Phoenix, but he has a lot of points on the cutline. That has to be some comfort.

Finishes of P5, P7, P6, P2, P2, and P4 in the last six races has him remaining at the top of the NASCAR Power Rankings. Can he get to the Championship 4?

2. Kyle Larson – Hendrick Motorsports (-)

Since his win at the Roval, Kyle Larson has had two races outside of the top-10. However, as those who watched Homestead can attest to, that doesn’t tell the whole story.

Larson was fighting for the win with 10 laps to go and made a strong move. It didn’t stick. But he fought a bad, damaged car from early in the race to the end and almost won.

3. Tyler Reddick – 23XI Racing (+4)

This hasn’t been the best NASCAR Playoffs for Tyler Reddick. But the regular season champion stepped up when he needed to this past week.

Reddick won the pole, won the first stage, and won the race. He did it in spectacular fashion, too. Can he win a championship?

4. Denny Hamlin – Joe Gibbs Racing (+2)

P3 for Denny Hamlin, he came up short after leading with two laps to go. But he still showed real speed for the first time in a long time.

Hamlin is dying for a championship. It is so close he can almost taste it, but he has to go and win at Martinsville to advance.

5. William Byron – Hendrick Motorsports (-2)

William Byron gets taken down a couple of spots in the NASCAR Power Rankings because others were so good. Byron will be a true danger if he makes it to Phoenix.

We talked about Bell’s consistency, but Byron has gone P2, P3, P3, P4, and P6 in the last five races. Byron isn’t out of it yet.

6. Ryan Blaney – Team Penske (+3)

P2 and a last-lap pass to lose the race. That is a tough way for Ryan Blaney to end his Homestead weekend.

Blaney is hoping to give Team Penske another driver in Phoenix. But he will have to win at Martinsville for the second year in a row.

7. Chase Elliott – Hendrick Motorsports (+1)

Strong showing for Chase Elliott. He led a ton of laps today. But I did not like how he faded late in the race.

Elliott has one more chance to win a race and get to the Championship 4. But does he have the speed to do it?

8. Joey Logano – Team Penske (-4)

Joey Logano may very well go out and win the championship. However, he dropped in the NASCAR Power Rankings because he disappeared on Sunday.

No one on the 22 team cares about this race going south. They are solely focused on Phoenix and winning a third championship for Logano.

9. Alex Bowman – Hendrick Motorsports (-4)

While Alex Bowman has been great as well, he drops in the NASCAR Power Rankings because of others as well. If Bowman was in the NASCAR Playoffs still, I might have him higher up.

Bowman was strong on Sunday, but right now, the focus is on other drivers. That’s just the truth.

10. Carson Hocevar – Spire Motorsports (NR)

This last spot is more or less a spotlight on the surprise performer of the last week or two. Carson Hocevar earns a spot back on the NASCAR Power Rankings for another top-10 finish.

Hocevar qualified well and raced in the top-5 for a moment. He was up front all day and while he couldn’t keep up with the leaders, he showed speed we don’t see from Spire. Ever.
