NASCAR crews show how deep standing water is, hold toy boat race on pit road in Chicago

At least folks are having fun at the NASCAR race in Chicago. Even on hold, crew members are finding a way to have some joy. If you have to wait on pit road where about half of a foot of water has pooled up, why not have some fun? Make some little boats and put on a show for everyone standing around.

Just because NASCAR isn’t on the track doesn’t mean that teams aren’t waiting eagerly to get this race underway. The sunlight is running out in Chicago, but the fun and games are just beginning it seems.

Watch as the Trackhouse Racing crew has a boat race in their pit box. If you can’t crack a smile watching this, then you’re too far gone.

He just couldn’t beat out other drivers and make the most of his opportunity. You know he’s always going to have fun when he’s at the track, though.

NASCAR dealing with insane amount of rain

Before NASCAR gets the Cup Series on the streets for the first time ever, they have had to battle the elements. On Saturday the city of Chicago showed out for the Xfinity Series race. They were climbing on subway stations, tearing holes in the mesh on the fences, and more.

While many fans are coming back out to the track, it will put a damper on the turnout. Folks were coming out of the woodwork it seemed as the Xfinity Series raced around. Even residents in their apartments watched from the windows above.

Somehow, someway, NASCAR got the engines started for this race. Green flag drops right after 6:15 PM EST. Justin Fields is giving the command for this one, and we are ready for the Grant Park 220 in Chicago.

As long as the rain stays away and there aren’t too many delays, we should get this race in. The first-ever Chicago Street Race in Cup Series history is
