Names for Miami Hurricanes fans to know in initial 2025 On300 rankings
The first On300 rankings for the 2025 recruiting class were released Monday morning, which were built upon the initial Top 100 Watchlist released last August. Miami has already begun targeting some early 2025 On300 prospects who have either visited campus, received or will receive a school visit from the Hurricanes‘ coaching or are otherwise in some communication with Miami’s staff, although NCAA rules severely limit the amount of contact college coaches can have with underclassmen.
Here are some names Miami fans need to know in the initial On300 rankings. Note that players are listed in the order they are ranked in the On300, not based on Miami’s chances with the recruit.
All are listed as On300 four-star prospect aside from Ezekiel Marcelin, Ryan Montgomery, Bryce Fitzgerald, who are ranked as three-star prospects.
David Sanders, OT, Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day School | No. 6 national recruit, No. 1 OT, No. 1 N.C. recruit.
Sanders has naturally generated interest from a bevy of programs, including the Hurricanes, who offered him earlier this month.
Armondo Blount, DL, Miami (Fla.) Central | No. 7 national recruit, No. 2 DL, No. 1 Fla. recruit
The Miami Central prospect is an obvious target for a Canes coaching staff aggressively looking to reestablish “the state of Miami.” His weekend visit to Coral Gables marked the fourth time he has visited Miami’s campus, the most visits he has taken to any program thus far. Florida is the early favorite on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, and he’s visited the Gators twice, but Blount is already receiving the VIP treatment from Miami’s staff.
DJ Pickett, S, Zephyrhills (Fla.) | No. 9 national recruit, No. 1 S, No. 2 Fla. recruit
Caleb Cunningham, WR, Ackerman (Miss.) Choctaw County | No. 10 national recruit, No. 2 WR, No. 1 Miss. recruit
Cunningham was wowed by Miami’s offer in January and immediately placed the Canes on his radar. He’s visited Miami once before and is set to visit the Hurricanes again April 1.
Jaime Ffrench, WR, Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin | No. 15 national recruit, No. 3 WR, No. 4 Fla. recruit
Ffrench took an unofficial visit to Miami in January and has some level of interest in the Canes but is being pursued by Ohio State, Alabama, Notre Dame, Florida State and many others. He’s visited Alabama, Penn State and Notre Dame already this month and will visit Clemson Saturday.
George MacIntyre, QB, Nashville (Tenn.) Brentwood Academy | No. 16 national recruit, No. 3 QB, No. 1 Tenn. recruit
MacIntyre is the nephew of FIU head coach Mike MacIntyre, and George has connections to the area. Miami was quick to offer him at the start of 2023. He has offers from Alabama, Tennessee, LSU and Georgia, among others, early on.
Jontae Gilbert, CB, Atlanta (Ga.) Douglass (Ohio State commit) | No. 25 national recruit, No. 4 CB, No. 5 Ga. recruit
Gilbert has been committed to Ohio State since last July but has called Miami one of his “dream schools.” Don’t rule out Gilbert taking a visit to Coral Gables at some point.
Davon Mitchell, TE, Los Alamitos (Calif.) | No. 31 national recruit, No. 1 TE, No. 3 Calif. recruit
Akili Smith Jr., QB, Murrieta (Calif.) Vista | No. 39 national recruit, No. 5 QB, No. 6 Calif. recruit
Noah Mikhail, LB, La Verne (Calif.) Bonita | No. 43 national recruit, No. 3 LB, No. 8 Calif. recruit
Mikhail is considering Miami along with Arkansas, Oklahoma, USC, Washington, Notre Dame, Georgia, UCLA, Texas, Nebraska and Ole Miss but feels like he needs to continue building a relationship with Miami’s staff. He recently took visits to Texas, LSU, USC and Texas A&M.
Naeshaun Montgomery, WR, West Palm Beach (Fla.) Cardinal Newman | No. 71 national recruit, No. 13 WR, No. 12 Fla. recruit
Montgomery has been one of the fastest-rising 2025 prospects since the start of 2023 going from an unranked recruit to a top-100 player in his class. He’s picked up offers from USC, Ole Miss, Maryland, Stanford, Pittsburgh and Penn State, but Miami currently leads the pack according to the RPM. He visited Coral Gables last weekend.
Madden Faraimo, LB, San Diego (Calif.) J. Serra Catholic | No. 86 national recruit, No. 8 LB, No. 13 Calif. recruit
Anquon Fegans, S, Oxford (Ala.) Thompson | No. 101 national recruit, No. 6 S, No. 6 Ala. recruit
Iose Epenesa, EDGE, Edwardsville (Ill.) | No. 108 national recruit, No. 11 EDGE, No. 3 Ill. recruit
Epenesa made it down to Coral Gables for Miami’s junior day in early March and was impressed by his visit. The Canes are third on his RPM behind Iowa and Illinois.
Daylan McCutcheon, WR, Lucas (Texas) Lovejoy | No. 118 national recruit, No. 19 WR, No. 20 Texas recruit
Amaree Williams, EDGE, Palm Beach Gardens (Fla.) The Benjamin School | No. 124 national recruit, No. 12 EDGE, No. 19 Fla. recruit
Williams is another prospect whose stock has skyrocketed in recent months, but the Hurricanes are well on his radar as well. He’s already taken several visits to Coral Gables, and Miami leads on the RPM.
Ben Hanks Jr., CB, Miami (Fla.) Booker T. Washington | No. 125 national recruit, No. 10 CB, No. 20 Fla. recruit
Hanks made the short trip to the Canes’ campus for a visit last week, and the coaching staff has continued to make a good impression on the four-star prospect.
Cortez Mills, WR, Homestead (Fla.) | No. 129 national recruit, No. 20 WR, No. 21 Fla. recruit
Ethan Pritchard, LB, Sanford (Fla.) Seminole | No. 131 national recruit, No. 12 LB, No. 23 Fla. recruit
Chris Ewald, CB, Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna Prep (Michigan commit) | No. 134 national recruit, No. 12 CB, No. 24 Fla. recruit
Ewald could be the next major prospect from a Chaminade program loaded with elite prospects in the 2024 class. The Canes lead on the RPM despite his commitment to Michigan.
Tarvos “TJ” Alford, LB, Port Saint Lucie (Fla.) John Carroll | No. 136 national recruit, No. 13 LB, No. 25 Fla. recruit
Alford is receiving substantial attention from Miami linebackers coach Derek Nicholson. Alford has made two trips to Coral Gables in four weeks, and Nicholson is telling Alford he sees him as one of the top linebackers in the country.
Taevion Swint, RB, Kissimmee (Fla.) Osceola | No. 139 national recruit, No. 13 RB, No. 26 Fla. recruit
Swint visited Miami in January and has interest in the Canes, but Florida continues to lead according to the RPM.
Amari Wallace, S, Miami (Fla.) Central | No. 159 national recruit, No. 12 S, No. 30 Fla. recruit
Wallace is another south Florida target poised to garner major attention by the time the 2025 cycle rolls around. Miami is second behind Auburn on the RPM.
Jarcoby Hopson, LB, Horn Lake (Miss.) Lake Cormant | No. 179 national recruit, No. 19 LB, No. 6 Miss. recruit
Miami’s interest in Hopson has climbed as of late, and Hopson visited The U last weekend.
Austin Simmons, QB, Pahokee (Fla.) | No. 182 national recruit, No. 15 QB, No. 32 Fla. recruit
Simmons is a two-sport star with substantial interest in the Canes after taking an unofficial visit earlier this month.
Ezekiel Marcelin, LB, Miami (Central) | No. 219 national recruit, No. 21 LB, No. 35 Fla. recruit
Marcelin has made a handful of visits to campus already, and he’ll likely make plenty more as a hometown prospect.
Ryan Montgomery, QB, Findlay (Ohio) | No. 259 national recruit, No. 21 QB, No. 9 Ohio recruit
Offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson plans on flying to Ohio to visit Montgomery in person this spring, and Montgomery and his father have discussed potentially trying to visit Coral Gables some time this year.
Bryce Fitzgerald, S, Miami (Fla.) Belen Jesuit Prep | No. 288 national recruit, No. 21 S, No. 42 Fla. recruit
Miami leads the early RPM ahead of Auburn, Marshall and Pitt. Fitzgerald will visit Coral Gables this weekend.
