Multiple programs attempting to flip 4-star Elias Rudolph from Miami, but ‘the window is closing’
Cincinnati (Ohio) Taft 2024 four-star EDGE Elias Rudolph has already flipped once this cycle — flipping from Michigan to Miami Aug. 12 — and multiple programs are working to pull the 6-foot-3, 200-pound EDGE away from the Hurricanes with the season just beginning.
However, the schools may be short on time … and it certainly helps that Miami is off to a hot start with the recent win over Texas A&M.
Michigan, Florida State and Pittsburgh, his other three top schools, are still working to flip him from Miami, but he reaffirmed his commitment to the Hurricanes to CaneSport. He declined to go into detail about the intensity of other programs’ recruiting efforts, but CaneSport has confirmed Michigan is still in on the No. 24 EDGE in the cycle.
He initially committed to the Wolverines July 3 before flipping to Miami a month later. Rudolph isn’t certain when specifically he’ll decide to shut down his recruitment and completely lock in with one school, but he feels opportunities to flip him are dwindling.
Rudolph recently told The Wolverine he plans to make the one-hour drive to Ann Arbor for a Michigan home game visit this fall as the Wolverines continue to push to flip him back. He talks to Michigan’s staff daily as the program continues to check up on him and has maintained a strong relationship with Michigan’s staff.
“The window is closing, but I still want to make sure I make the right decision,” Rudolph said.
Rudolph said his conversations with Miami now center around events in his life, big-picture stuff and the Hurricanes’ excitement to get him on campus in 2024. The Hurricanes’ staff has made the strongest recruiting effort for Rudolph, but their strategy to bond and connect with their EDGE commit hasn’t changed much since his flip to Miami.
“I’m hearing from Miami the most,” Rudolph said. “We talk often, like almost daily. We’re just having cool conversations, we just talk about a lot of things.”
Rudolph plans to return to Miami for a game visit this fall after visiting Coral Gables for an official visit June 16 and an unofficial visit at the Hurricanes’ end-of-July recruiting barbecue July 29, roughly two weeks before he flipped. He believes Miami has potential to become one of the top defenses in the ACC.
“I don’t think too many schools are going to put up the points they expect,” Rudolph said.
CaneSport’s Take
Miami has been in a strong position with Rudolph since this summer, and while it’s possible he decides to flip to a third program, we’re confident he’ll ultimately sign with the Hurricanes in December. However, Michigan is currently viewed as the biggest threat to Miami if he flips elsewhere.
