Daniel Roberts (110m hurdles, USA), Micaela Hazelwood (discuss throw, USA), Alexis Holmes (4×400 relay pool), and Masai Russell (100m hurdles, USA) were Kentucky athletes who also competed in the event. NBC, CNBC, and USA Network have provided live coverage of the championships. This event has been hosted every other year beginning in 1983.

On Saturday and Sunday, Holmes will compete in the women’s 4×400 relay. The Saturday heat airs at 1:55 p.m. ET, and the Sunday heat airs at 3:47 p.m. ET. Both can be watched on CNBC, Peacock, or NBCSports.com.

Former Kentucky track star Alexis Holmes helps set world record

Speaking of Holmes, the former Kentucky star brought home a world championship and world record during her stay at the World Athletic Championships.

In the mixed 4×400 relay, the United States pulled off an impressive comeback to pull off an upset on Sunday, Aug. 19. Holmes finished the anchor leg with a personal-best 48.82 to give the USA the world record at 3:08:80.

The previous world record was 3:09.34 held by a United States group that featured Allyson Felix, Wilbert London, Courtney Okolo, and Michael Cherry in 2020.

“Honestly, I wasn’t thinking much,” Holmes said after the win. “I kind of just went into autopilot and stayed as composed as I could. Coming off the last turn, I felt really strong and kind of felt myself inching closer to her. I kept telling myself, ‘Just get to the line.’ It just worked out for the best.”

Former Kentucky track stars are making a lot of noise on the world stage.
