More intel from Michigan’s massive official visit weekend

*** As I mentioned earlier today, I’m joining our Zach Libby and logging a prediction for Michigan land four-star EDGE Elias Rudolph. Libby was the first one across all networks to put in a pick weeks ago and has been all over this, so kudos to him. What about timeline? I’m told Michigan is trying to get this done sooner rather than later. Rudolph does have official visits scheduled to Ohio State and Miami, but I’m not sure either of those happen. Michigan hit a home run this weekend.

*** My confidence level has gone up even more today with four-star Ijamsville (Md.) Oakdale EDGE Dominic Nichols. I’m going to say about 85-90 percent here despite the recent Wisconsin buzz. Michigan got all the momentum back this weekend and really wowed him and his family. I believe a decision will come relatively soon.

*** Michigan did really well with five-star Chicago (Ill.) St. Ignatius defensive lineman Justin Scott. If it comes down to the Midwest schools, then I believe Michigan has given itself a fair shot, which is all you can ask for. I have reason to believe his family would like him closer to home. However, Scott really loves Miami and Georgia. Notre Dame was in a better position going into the OV but I’m not so sure that’s the case. I would say it’s pretty even with the Irish. Ohio State remains a strong contender.

*** The recruitment of four-star Cleveland (Tenn.) Bradley defensive back Boo Carter is an interesting one. Multiple sources have told me that the Wolverines absolutely crushed it this weekend and judging by Carter’s social media, it’s easy to see that. I can tell you there was no silent commitment. I think there is reason for cautious optimism with Carter, but this is still a very, very tight race with Tennessee.

*** As I wrote this weekend, Tennessee was the first to offer Carter and has plenty to sell from the NIL perspective. The Volunteers are doing everything they can to not lose this race. At the same time, Michigan has treated Carter like one its top overall priorities throughout the cycle, and Steve Clinkscale has perhaps the best relationship with Carter out of any school recruiting him. Yes, Carter is announcing this week, but I could see this one going all the way until signing day. Neither team is going to give up on Carter.

*** I do think Michigan is a legitimate dark horse in the race for four-star Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy defensive back Jordon Johnson-Rubell. The Wolverines wowed him with their culture and scheme pitch. Of course, Johnson-Rubell had a chance to envision himself as the next Jabrill Peppers, who interacted with him on social media. Johnson-Rubell still has OVs set with Ohio State and Texas. This one is going to be a long game.

*** Some positive vibes coming out of the OV weekend for Top 100 Cleveland (Ohio) Glenville cornerback Bryce West. However, I’m not getting my hopes up here. I still think it’s going to be Ohio State. Michigan made a positive impression on five-star St. Louis (Mo.) University wide receiver Ryan Wingo and gave itself a fighting chance, but it’s going to be an uphill battle.
