Middle Tennessee transfer Jestin Porter commits to Clemson

Former Middle Tennessee combo guard Jestin Porter commits to Clemson out of the NCAA transfer portal, On3 has learned. Porter originally entered the NCAA transfer portal on March 20.
Porter averaged 15.0 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.2 assists per games last season for Middle Tennessee. He spent three seasons with the program, starting in the last 77 matchups he’s appeared in for the Blue Raiders over the past two seasons.
From his 2023 to 2024, he improved his shooting percentages in the three major categories (field goal, 3-point, free throw). While his scoring numbers slightly increased from last season, his rebounding and assist numbers dipped just the same.
Heading into the season, Porter was named preseason All-Conference USA. He proved the voters right when he went on to lead the team in three-pointers made (84), free throw percentage (82.2%) and minutes per game (33.8). Porter was also the team’s leading scorer, which earned him Second Team All-CUSA honors at the end of the season.
Porter also has his name in Middle Tennessee record books. He was able to surpass the 1,000 career point mark in three years or less, becoming the 16th Blue Raider in history to do so. He left the program sitting in the top 25 scorers all-time in Middle Tennessee history with 1,163 points.
2025 will be the final year that Porter has eligibility, as he played two seasons playing at the JUCO level with Tyler Junior College. He averaged 17.1 points and 3.3 assists per game the season before arriving at MTSU. He’s officially been playing at the college level since 2020.
Before college, Porter was unranked in the On3 Industry rankings, which is a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services. He has certainly outperformed that intitial ranking in college, or lack thereof.
As of Wednesday, March 26, over 1,250 Men’s College Basketball players had entered the NCAA Transfer Portal. That number is expected to grow now that the 2024-25 college basketball season has reached its conclusion.
The transfer portal wire provides a real-time feed of player activity, including basic player profile information, transfer portal ranking and original On3 Industry recruiting ranking, as well as NIL valuation (name, image and likeness).
