Michigan State to host Belleville LB Andre Thomas, Jr. at Spartan Dawg Con

Detroit – Michigan State’s growing list of visitors for its annual Spartan Dawg Con event just got longer. SpartanMag.com confirmed at Wednesday’s Sound Mind Sound Body 7v7 Showcase that consensus three-star Belleville linebacker Andre Thomas, Jr. will attend the event on July 29.
Spartan Dawg Con is an annual event hosted by the Michigan State football program. Its focus is bringing former players back to campus to interact with current players, coaches, families, recruits and more.
Thomas is ranked the No. 450 overall prospect in the Class of 2025, per the On3 Industry Rankings. He’s also the No. 42 linebacker in the country and the No. 10 player in Michigan.
The 6-foot-1, 205-pound linebacker has offers from Maryland, Pittsburgh, Central Michigan and Toledo. Although he does not currently hold a Michigan State offer, he has been in contact with Michigan State graduate assistant Antjuan Simmons.
“He (Simmons) said he wanted to build a relationship with me,” Thomas said.
Thomas planned to camp at Michigan State in June but couldn’t make it. His visit later this month for Spartan Dawg Con will be his second time on campus. He took a game day visit last season for the Western Michigan game.
“It will really be my first time seeing the campus,” Thomas said of his upcoming trip to Michigan State.
A native of Belleville, Mich., Thomas played well for his hometown team at Wednesday’s 7-on-7 showcase. He felt it was a good way for the reigning back-to-back Division I state champion Tigers to have some fun before the season starts.
Like most of his teammates, Thomas has high expectations for this fall.
“Of course another state championship is a team goal, but as my goal, probably All-State and stuff like that,” Thomas said. “But that doesn’t really matter, I’m trying to get another state championship.”
Thomas told SpartanMag.com that he doesn’t plan to attend any other camps or events before the season starts.
“Just keep working for the season and getting ready for season,” Thomas said of his remaining summer plans. “So probably just stick to working out and stuff like that.”
