Michigan State offers 2024 linebacker Christian Thatcher

Michigan State offered class of 2025 linebacker Christian Thatcher, of Las Vegas (NV) Arbor View on July 30. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound rising junior is ranked a four-star, the No. 250 overall recruit. Thatcher also ranks the No. 25 linebacker, and the No. 5 recruit in Nevada by the 2025 On3 Industry Rankings. His other offers include Oklahoma, UCLA, Texas A&M, Southern California, and more.

Spartan defensive quality control assistant Chris Gordon extended the offer. Gordon comes to East Lansing as former Idaho and South Dakota quality control coach. He also spent time serving as a quality control intern with Minnesota.

“It was a great honor to receive an offer from such a great school,” Thatcher told SpartanMag.com. “I have been talking to Coach Gordon for a few months now.”

“(We have) just been talking about the great tradition (at Michigan State),” He said. “We talked about how they have watched a lot of film, and they loved mine.”

“I would describe my game as violent, I go 100 percent. Flying to the ball, wherever the ball is, every single play.”

It is still early for the rising junior, as Thatcher is excited about growing his relationship with Michigan State. A visit out to East Lansing is not an easy one, but it could be on the table for this fall as the relationship continues to progress.

“I really look forward to seeing how our relationship progresses and would love to take a trip out there if it’s a good fit for everyone,” Thatcher said. “I am looking for a school that wants to develop me not just as a football player but a student and man.”

Early 2025 LBs on the board:

Michigan State also extended an offer to 2025 linebacker Cooper Catalano, as he was on campus over the weekend for the SpartanDawg Con event. The LB out of Germantown (WI) holds offers from the Badgers, Illinois, Kansas, Iowa State, and Minnesota.

The Spartans also welcomed three-star Kelan Butler of Jefferson (GA) in June. Michigan State made a strong early move for Butler, positioning themselves well for another fall visit. Defensive coordinator//linebackers coach Scottie Hazelton also played host to Veniliate Wolfgramm of Ingelwood (CA) during the spring.
