Michigan State hosts three-star Ohio offensive tackle Dane Wleklinski
2024 Dublin (OH) Jerome offensive tackle Dane Wleklinski made his first trip to East Lansing over the weekend for spring practice on April 1. The 6-foot-6, 270-pound tackle does not hold a Michigan State offer yet, but has been in communication with Spartans’ associate head coach, run game coordinator and offensive line coach Chris Kapilovic.
“The best part was getting to see practice and Coach (Kapilovic) coach,” Wleklinski said. “He’s a straight shooter. Gets his guys to work hard but slows it down when he needs to teach them. Practice was high energy and focused.”
Offensive graduate assistant Jacob Lail also stood out to Wleklinski during the practice while assisting Kapilovic with the offensive line unit.
“He is a good dude,” Wleklinski said. “He does most of the behind the scenes stuff, but can also run the practice if need be.”
Michigan State’s basketball coach Tom Izzo stopped by the spring practice, showing support for the football program. Many of the recruits in attendance were able to interact and take photos with the hall of fame coach.
“Coach Izzo is a great dude,” Wleklinski said. “Really down to earth. I truly enjoyed our conversation.”
Following the Spartans’ spring practice, the three-star offensive lineman was able to meet with Kapilovic and discuss his recruitment further. The two discussed a future offer from the Spartans, with Kapilovic extending a camp invite.
“I talked to Coach (Kapilovic) after practice,” Wleklinski said. “Coach (Kapilovic) said I’m on the watchlist and he wants me to come to camp and work with them.”
Wleklinski, who does not currently hold an offer from Michigan State, has early offers from Cincinnati, West Virginia, Duke, Toledo, Miami (OH), and more.
“(Michigan State) is a big possibility if I get the offer to play there,” Wleklinski added.
The 2024 6-foot-6, 270-pound offensive tackle is currently unranked, according to the 2024 On3 Industry Ranking.
