The 5-foot-11, 185-pound defensive back committed to Michigan State after decommitting and officially visiting the hometown program in Syracuse. Torrence also visited Boston College and Pittsburgh. His other offers included Rutgers, Memphis, and others.

SpartanMag.com caught up with Torrence to discuss his decision to commit to Michigan State.

“I chose MSU because once I stepped foot on campus I felt I was home again,” Torrence told SpartanMag.com, “The players and coaching staff treated me like I was already on the team. I loved the atmosphere (on my visit) and love what I am seeing and hearing.”

Torrence was scouted and recruited by Spartan cornerbacks coach Jim Salgado

“Coach came to see me in person and that shows me he wants to coach and help develop me,” Torrence said. “My thoughts on Coach Salgado and on his coaching experience is very exciting. He has coached at many places such as the Buffalo Bills and has helped develop a lot of football players.

“Michigan State is recruiting me as a safety/nickel,” Torrence told SpartanMag.com
