Michigan recruiting buzz coming out of another big official visit this weekend

Michigan recruiting buzz coming out of another big official visit this weekend

*** Let’s just start off with Top 100 Springfield (Ohio) High cornerback Aaron Scott. Michigan has built a ton of momentum in this race. Obviously, Scott got a more in-depth look at the program and also spent time with several of the commits. I predicted Michigan would lead after the visit but would have to survive next weekend’s trip to Ohio State. That’s still the case. I wouldn’t get too excited or too low. In talking with sources, there is a lot of optimism with Scott, but they feel the same way — the trip to Columbus will determine everything. I would expect Scott to make a decision soon after that visit. For now, there is a lot to like about Michigan’s chances. The best way I can put it is having a lead late in the fourth. Feels great, but the game isn’t over just yet.

*** Michigan did a fantastic job with On300 Copperas Cove (Texas) High offensive lineman Michael Uini. In fact, I think the Wolverines should feel pretty optimistic coming out of this visit. Now, this race is still too close to call, but from what I have been able to gather, the Wolverines are right at the top of his list. Sherrone Moore and company made Uini feel like family and even offered his younger brother, Marques. I screamed all week that Michigan was a real dark horse here and now, I feel even better about saying that. Yes, there are predictions in for Bennett Warren (not one from me yet), but Uini is very much in play. With that said, Georgia is getting the final OV next weekend, and Uini spent some time living in the Peach State as a youth.

*** I’m feeling great about my On3 prediction for Michigan to land On300 Belleville (Mich.) High linebacker Jeremiah Beasley. I’m told Michigan knocked it out of the park this weekend. Michigan State hosted Beasley to open the month of June. However, I didn’t feel like the Spartans did enough. Missouri is getting his final official visit next weekend, but I’ve never see the Tigers as a true threat. Remember, Beasley is set to make his decision on June 29. With Aaron Chiles going to Florida, it is imperative for the Wolverines to seal the deal with Beasley. And I think they will.

*** I’m also feeling great about my On3 prediction for Michigan to land four-star Brandywine (Md.) Gwynn Park EDGE Devon Baxter. I’m told Michigan made Baxter feel very comfortable. The Wolverines absolutely love this kid. Baxter has a great relationship with staffer Dylan Roney, while defensive coordinator Jesse Minter has made him a top priority on the EDGE board. Baxter is still set to make an official visit to Virginia Tech next weekend. However, I do think he’ll put an end to his recruitment at some point in the next few weeks.
