I’Marion Stewart made multiple trips to Michigan this offseason and was back on campus for his official visit over the weekend.
The four-star Chicago (Ill.) Kenwood wide receiver got yet another look at the program and enjoyed his stay in Ann Arbor.
“It went well,” Stewart said. “I’ve been down there a few times, so I’ve basically seen everything. This time, I spent more time with the players. I also spent more time with Coach (Ron) Bellamy, Coach (Sherrone) Moore and Coach (Jim) Harbaugh. Usually when I’m there, I’m around the stadium. This time, I got a whole campus tour. I definitely love the campus.”
Michigan wide receivers coach Ron Bellamy has been leading the way in the recruitment of Stewart the entire cycle and has developed a strong bond with the Windy City native.
On this visit, Bellamy focused more on Stewart’s fit in the offense and compared him to senior wide out Roman Wilson.
“We talked about everything,” Stewart said. “It was more what I can do and what I’ll be able to do. How I can play a good role in the offense if I do go there. He compared me to Roman. I like the way they used him and got him the ball in different variations — short game, deep and getting him the ball quick and letting him work. Roman will be gone, so if I come, I’ll be able to compete for that spot right away.”
Stewart also had a chance to sit down with Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh.
“That meeting was more funny than business,” Stewart said. “I had my whole family in there. Him and my dad were making jokes. We talked about the team trips they’ll be taking. He also talked about stuff they should do before the games and after the games. It was just little stuff like that. It’s good to have a coach that can joke around with you but be about business when it’s time to handle business.”
Michigan also received a boost from player host Darrius Clemons and a couple of its newer wide receivers.
“It was good to see how (Clemons) was living out there,” Stewart said. “It gave me a good perspective on what it would be like if I do go there. Darrius is a cool dude. I was also with Fredrick (Moore), Semaj (Morgan) and all those guys. It was really fun being together. You also have Tyler (Morris). I think I’d fit in well with them.”
Aside from hanging out with the staff and players, Stewart said the U-M strength and conditioning presentation really moved the needle.
“I liked the strength and nutrition presentation,” Stewart said. “It’s crazy how much weight and muscle they can put on you in a matter of a month. They can have you looking like a completely different person. I’m enrolling early wherever I go, so I would have that head start.”
So where does Michigan stand coming out of the visit?
“You know where they stand,” Stewart said with a laugh. “They are up there. They are Top 2 right now. I haven’t dropped a Top 2, but it’s definitely Wisconsin and Michigan.”
Stewart is set to make his decision this Friday. Michigan is considered the favorite on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine with a 95.8 percent chance of landing him.
At 6-foot, 177 pounds, Stewart is ranked as the No. 58 wide receiver and No. 357 overall prospect nationally, per the On3 Industry Ranking.
