Michigan football not knocking on AP Poll, but 3 of final 4 opponents firmly in

The Michigan Wolverines may have gotten a bit of a reprieve from a rough middle of the season with a win over Michigan State on Saturday night, but it was not enough to get back in the AP Poll this week. For the second week in a row, U-M was not grouped within the top 25 teams in the country.

However, the month of November will be a gauntlet for the Wolverines. Next weekend, the nation’s top-ranked team comes to town in the form of the Oregon Ducks, who will be making their second cross-country flight in three weeks. The following week, U-M heads to Indiana to take on the 13th-ranked Hoosiers. The regular season concludes with a game against the No. 4 Ohio State Buckeyes on the road in Columbus.

Penn State and Illinois are the other two ranked teams out of the Big Ten, coming in at No. 3 and No. 24, respectively. PSU and OSU meet next week in Happy Valley in the marquee matchup of the weekend nationally.

Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore weighs in on win

Michigan got back in the win column against MSU, which was needed given the bad vibes around a two-game losing streak in October.

“I think just when you lose in general, you’re not having fun,” Moore said after the game, “We’re competitors. We don’t want to lose. So, that was a big piece for me. I wanted the guys to enjoy and just embrace it and love it because they deserve it. You know, they have so much pressure they put on themselves. You know, there’s pressure from the outside world that’s put on them from a lot of people. And there’s pressure that they put on themselves, which is probably even more than everybody else puts on them. So, for me, them having fun and the smiles like that, watching this dude smile, look at his smile. It’s fine. That, I mean, that’s the best. So, that’s what ultimately drives me.”

Saturday’s game against the Oregon Ducks is set for a 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff on CBS. Michigan is currently a 15-point underdog, according to the Vegas odds.
