Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas four-star safety Ryan Mack, the No. 248 overall 2024 prospect in the On300, will return to Miami this weekend for his second unofficial visit to Coral Gables of the spring, CaneSport has learned.
Mack, who is listed as the No. 492 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking, a ranking service that compiles a weighted average from the four major recruiting databases, visited Miami March 23 and attended the Hurricanes’ spring game April 14.
Miami secondary coach Jahmile Addae and defensive coordinator Lance Guidry talk to Mack “a couple of times a week,” and Mack said he’s been impressed enough with the Canes to make a return visit.
“I feel like I need to go down there to see how I fit, because there have been some changes on the defense,” Mack said. “I’m just gonna go there and learn about what they’re doing new and how I’m gonna fit. …I know that the culture is there now because of coach Cristobal and what he’s putting in.”
The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine lists Miami as the current frontrunner for the 5-foot-11, 150-pound cornerback ahead of Florida State and Penn State, although he has serious interest in both programs. He and Miami have lightly talked about possible official visits, but he remains unsure about his summer schedule.

Mack plans to take an official visit to Pitt in late June and has interest in FSU and Penn State. He visited the Seminoles and Nittany Lions for unofficial visits this spring but said he doesn’t feel there are any clear frontrunners at the moment.
“I like that (Miami) pays attention to my play style and they see me fitting in,” Mack said. “They tell me where they see me fitting in and what I need to work on to be in the system and be able to play.”
CaneSport’s Take
Miami has defensive back targets it’s pursuing much more aggressively than Mack, but bringing him back to Coral Gables tells us the Hurricanes aren’t totally shutting the door on him yet. Miami is also running short on remaining official visit spots with nearly 40 already locked in and the Hurricanes expecting to host at least half a dozen more recruits.
