Miami ‘still at the top’ for 5-star DL Justin Scott after weekend official visit

Miami has been a strong contender for the better part of six months with Chicago (Ill.) St. Ignatius five-star defensive lineman Justin Scott.
After multiple visits this spring, the Hurricanes emerged as one of the top schools on his list, alongside Notre Dame and Georgia.
Scott returned to Coral Gables this weekend, and Mario Cristobal and Co. continue to make the nation’s No. 2 defensive lineman feel like a top priority.
“Their message was that if I go there, it would be my team,” he told On3. “I would be the difference-maker and flip the program. Every time I’m there I get more comfortable. I’m at a point were I can be chill with the coaches.”
Scott’s parents got to witness what he sees in Miami
While Scott has been on campus at Miami a few times since last fall, this was the first chance he got to bring his parents with him. And having them take it all in was an important part of the trip.
“This visit was more about my parents getting to experience it because I’ve been more time than they have,” he said. “Something that stood out was them having a plan and sharing that plan with me throughout my years at the university. Really the whole coaching staff gave me a ton of attention.”
Only one scheduled official visit remains this summer, a trip to Ohio State coming up this weekend. Scott initially planned to commit back in January, but opted to postpone that date indefinitely. He doesn’t have one locked in yet this time around, but he admitted it’s possible he will be off the board by the end of the summer to focus on his senior season.
“Miami is still at the top and I may make a decision before summer ends,” he said, “but if I do I wouldn’t announce it ahead of time. I would just do it.”
