Miami roster member helping spur CB’s interest in Hurricanes … and he’s landed UM offer: “We’ve got to go down there and visit”

Melbourne (Fla.) Eau Gallie 2026 cornerback Xavier Iherisse has plenty of interest in Miami after picking up an offer from the Hurricanes earlier this month thanks in no small part to one of the Canes’ current roster members.

Iherisse, a 5-foot-11, 185-pound corner with early offers from Georgia, LSU and Texas A&M, among others, is a former teammate of Miami cornerback Robert Stafford, a 2023 four-star signee. Iherisse called Stafford “one of my close friends and (former) teammates,” and he knows quite a bit about Miami. His uncle is also a “big Canes fan,” he said.

“(Stafford) was talking to me about maybe going on a visit with him one day,” Iherisse said. “Because now that I’ve got the offer, we’ve got to go down there and visit, and he wanted to know if I want to go there with him one day.”

Iherisse hopes to play football and baseball at the college level and said his Miami interest was partially thanks to the Hurricanes’ baseball program. He does not currently hold a Miami baseball offer but hopes he can land one.

Iherisse added he has Miami high on his radar, although Georgia, South Carolina and UCF have had his attention for some time. He said he has high interest in all three of those programs because of their football and baseball programs.

He will prioritize football in his recruitment.

CaneSport’s Take

Miami head coach Mario Cristobal has repeatedly emphasized the importance of finding South Florida talent early and keeping it close to home, and Iherisse is another example.

With offers already from programs like Georgia and LSU, it’s safe to say his stock will continue to increase over the next few years and that he’ll continue to draw interest from major schools, which made it even more important for Miami’s staff to hand out an offer early to ensure its spot among the bigger-name programs recruiting him.

Don’t be surprised if Iherisse makes the trip south at some point this summer to interact with the coaching staff as it makes a concerted effort to build early relationships with local talent.
