IMG Academy 2025 four-star linebacker Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng has visited Miami twice already this spring, and the Hurricanes are aggressively trending up for the No. 38 prospect in next year’s recruiting class as a result.
Owusu-Boateng, a 6-foot-2, 210-pound linebacker originally from Hyattsville, Md., made his first trip to Coral Gables April 8, one week before Miami’s spring game, and his second visit May 13 for the Hurricanes’ elite junior day, although he did not attend head coach Mario Cristobal’s pool party. Still, Miami has made a serious impression on the elite young prospect and leads in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine ahead of Ohio State, South Carolina and Florida.
“It’s the love that I’ve gotten from (linebackers) coach (Derek) Nicholson and the other staff members here,” Owusu-Boateng told CaneSport. “I just wanted to come back again (May 13) and show my presence. Also, it’s a beautiful campus as you can see. I just love it.”
Miami has started showing Owusu-Boateng its playbook and how the Hurricanes’ staff can develop him long-term, not to mention the impact the staff feels he can have on the roster.
“I just feel like if I can see myself going here, and I do, that I can have a great impact,” Owusu-Boateng said.
His most recent visit focused on one-on-one time with Nicholson, which he said he didn’t have a ton of on his April 8 visit, and that the Hurricanes have started giving him personalized attention. Asked which schools he’s heavily interested in early on in his recruitment, Owusu-Boateng said “Miami, most definitely.”
Other schools — like Penn State, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Virginia Tech — are pushing as well, but the Hurricanes are doing their part to stand out to the No. 4 linebacker in the class.
“It’s everything,” Owusu-Boateng said. “The campus, the coaches, the (recruiting) staff members, just the love they give, I love it.”
Miami checked up on him at school the first week of the evaluation visit when defensive coordinator Lance Guidry dropped by. He’d like to return to Coral Gables at some point and is open to visiting “all of the schools that are interested in me” this summer.
Owusu-Boateng holds an On3 NIL Valuation of $87k.
CaneSport’s Take
Miami turned up the heat a notch on Owusu-Boateng’s last visit to Coral Gables. Miami is trying to get out ahead of the incoming flurry of elite schools sure to be after the four-star during his recruitment, and it has worked so far.
Now the key will be consistency and not forgetting about Owusu-Boateng, even though most of the Canes’ focus will remain on the 2024 class.
