Miami positioning itself as team to beat for 4-star DL Brandon Brown

Miami positioning itself as team to beat for 4-star DL Brandon Brown

During the 2023 recruiting cycle, Miami landed four-star defensive back Robert Stafford out of Eau Gallie High School in Melbourne, and now the Hurricanes have their sights on another talented prospect out of that program in 2025 four-star defensive lineman Brandon Brown.

After visiting Miami for the matchup against Texas A&M earlier this fall, Brown, who is the No. 236 overall prospect in the 2025 class according to the On3 Industry Ranking, believes the Hurricanes are at the top of his list of programs.

“Miami is up top right now,” Brown told CaneSport. “The coaching staff is what really stands out.”

Following Miami’s 48-33 victory over the Aggies back on Sept. 9, Brown spent time with the Hurricanes coaching staff and players following their big win in their locker room as they celebrated knocking off the then-ranked No. 23 Texas A&M squad.

“I loved the game,” Brown said. “I loved the play style of the defensive line and how they worked. That showed me they know how to play.”

That experience and genuine connection with Miami’s personnel and players is why the 6-foot-2 275-pounder feels at home whenever he is down for a visit to South Florida with the Hurricanes.

“I love the coaching staff, and every time I visit, I feel like it’s home out here,” Brown said. “I loved the vibe from the coaches. With coach DTrain (Dennis Smith), coach (Edwin) Pata, and coach Joe (Salave’a) I loved the vibe.”

According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, Miami is the current favorite to land Brown, as they lead all schools with a 33.9% probability, ahead of the likes of UCF (10.5%) and Florida (9%).

CaneSport’s take

So far this season, Brown has been on a tear for his 5-1 Eau Gallie squad, totaling 40 tackles, 19 tackles for loss, and 4 sacks midway through his junior campaign, which has programs such as Miami, Florida, Texas, LSU, Notre Dame, and others chasing the Gators legacy.

Brown has made it known a few times that the Hurricanes are the current team to beat in his recruitment, but there is still a long way to go in his recruitment. With a strong start to the 2023 season and an already well-established relationship, Miami looks as if they’re in a great spot to potentially land the top-250 defender.
