Miami (Ohio) WR Reginald Virgil is stacking big offers quickly in transfer portal

Reginald Virgil, a wide receiver from the Miami (Ohio) RedHawks, has quickly started stacking up some big offers quickly from schools around the country.

Among the schools that have now offered Virgil are Oklahoma, UTSA, Texas Tech, Pitt, Florida, Michigan State, Florida State, Miami, UCF, Illinois, Georgia Tech, West Virginia, Arkansas, and Michigan. It has also recently been reported that he will be taking a visit at Oklahoma. Another report has Virgil visiting Florida.

Reginald Virgil played his high school football at Mount Dora Christian Academy in Florida. There, he was a three-star recruit in the Class of 2022, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. He was the 108th-ranked athlete and the 1,758th-ranked player overall in that recruiting cycle.

In three seasons with the RedHawks, Virgil played in 36 games. During that time he had 43 receptions for 878 yards and 10 touchdowns. The vast majority of that production came during the 2024 season, when Virgil made 41 receptions for 816 yards and nine touchdowns. He also averaged 19.9 yards per reception, making him one of the best deep threats in the country. In his first two college seasons, he spent the majority of his time on special teams.

For the 2024 season, Virgil earned Second-Team All-MAC honors.

The 2024 season was an excellent one for Miami (Ohio). The RedHawks went 8-4 during the regular season, making it to the MAC Championship Game where they would lose to the Ohio Bobcats. They were able to do that despite a difficult non-conference schedule that included three Power Four opponents. They would go on to finish the regular season on a seven game winning streak. Now, the RedHawks are preparing to play Colorado State in the Arizona Bowl.

This has been part of a strong run for Miami (Ohio) under head coach Chuck Martin. Last season, the RedHawks won 11 games and the conference championship. So, the past couple of seasons have been excellent for Miami (Ohio).

Reginald Virgil will have one season of eligibility remaining when he lands at his next school.

The Transfer Portal opened on Monday, December 9th. This is one of two opportunities in the offseason for players to enter the portal and find a new school to play for. Certainly, in the case of Reginald Virgil, there will be plenty of options to choose from as teams look to find a way to fill gaps on their rosters.
