Miami, Ohio State, Georgia among teams after On3 top-50 WR Naeshaun Montgomery

BRADENTON, Fla. — Naeshaun Montgomery has seen his recruitment take off exponentially over the course of the offseason.

Montgomery, a top-50 recruit in the On300 for the 2025 recruiting class out of South Florida, has seen his offer sheet pile up with overtures from the likes of SEC, ACC and Big Ten schools alike. That includes national powers like Georgia and Ohio State, as well as local schools like Miami.

The 6-foot-3, 175-pounder out of West Palm Beach (Fla.) Cardinal Newman High School was back on Miami’s campus to work out in June. Montgomery expects to return later in July for the team’s cookout at the request of Hurricanes head coach Mario Cristobal.

“They stand really high,” Montgomery told On3. “I was in Coach Mario’s office and we had a little chat (last month) and it went well.”

“Our relationship is getting stronger and stronger, to be honest,” he continued. “Every time I go up there, they show a lot of love. They bring me aside and chat with me. Coach KB (Kevin Beard) breaks the whole game down for me — everything, from routes to releases. I’m at the top of Coach KB’s list. Whenever I go up there, he breaks everything down to me and he adds stuff to my game and gives me stuff that I need to work out … It’s definitely just a blessing seeing what they did, giving me some knowledge and I’m taking it and adding it to my game.”

Montgomery, the No. 47-rated recruit in the On300 for 2025, is expected to be back in Coral Gables for the July cookout at the month’s end.

Two other schools on the four-star offensive playmaker’s radar include Ohio State and Georgia.

Ohio State’s Brian Hartline has already made a strong initial impression on one of South Florida’s best in the 2025 class.

“When he first came, I was excited, to be honest,” he recounted. “The way he’s recruited Jeremiah (Smith) when he came down I liked it … I like the way he sees my future if I go and play for him. When he first came down here, he compared me to some of the NFL guys that he’s worked with and he also gave me some stuff for me to work on. I like him and how Ohio State puts out NFL receivers.”

A recent offer from the two-time defending champs and WR coach Bryan McClendon — who is very familiar with South Florida — has also garnered Montgomery’s attention.

“We’re just really starting to build a bond now,” the elite 2025 pass-catcher said, adding that McClendon has reached out to his Cardinal Newman head coach “a few times” so far. “I’ve been thinking about how they put a lot of people in the draft.”
