Miami offers top-15 OL Ekene Ogboko, who is looking to visit this summer

When Miami Hurricanes senior analyst Edwin Pata made his way up to South Garner High School in North Carolina, 2026 offensive lineman Ekene Ogboko was not on the Canes’ radar. That quickly changed upon Pata’s arrival, as Miami offered the four-star tackle late last month.
“When Coach Pata came to my school, he didn’t know I was here and actually came to see some other guys,” Ogboko told CaneSport. “When he saw me, he offered me, and it felt pretty cool.”
According to the On3 Industry Ranking, Ogboko is the No. 15-ranked prospect in the 2026 class and the No. 3-ranked tackle in next year’s recruiting cycle. The 6-foot-6, 285-pound rising junior has had his eye on the Hurricanes and believes the program is heading in the right direction with a bright future ahead.
“I definitely like Miami,” Ogboko said. “I have family in Miami; I really like it down there. It looks like a great program, and I like what they’re trying to build there. I’ve got to see what they’re going to do these next two years and build the program.”
Georgia, Notre Dame, Alabama, Penn State, NC State, South Carolina and Miami are among the early programs that have offered Ogboko.
“When I look at a program, I look at the coach-player relationship,” Ogboko said. “Also, do they have good academics and a winning culture? Also, somewhere I can be myself and have fun on and off the field.”
In the coming months, Ogboko is hoping to camp at Miami and work with Hurricanes offensive line coach Alex Mirabal, whom he had high praise for.
“I want to see if I can go down there and actually be coached by them during a camp,” Ogboko said. “See if I can actually be coached by Coach Mirabal and learn from him. I have to actually see myself working and training down in Miami.”
Until then, Ogboko plans to remain in contact with the Hurricanes as the two sides develop a relationship.
“Relationship-wise, I want to see if they keep talking to me and reaching out to my coaches to see how I’m doing,” Ogboko said. “I really want to see if they actually care about me.”
CaneSport’s take
Ogboko is an elite talent and a no-brainer offer for Miami. With intentions of getting on campus, it looks as if the Hurricanes have Ogboko’s attention early on, which is a great sign.
