Miami offers elite 2026 WR Aaron Gregory, who already holds interest from SEC powers

Miami joined a long list of schools with interest in Douglasville (Ga.) Douglas County 2026 receiver Aaron Gregory, who has already landed offers from Georgia, Alabama, LSU and Florida State, by offering the highly-coveted wideout in late July.
Hurricanes receivers coach Kevin Beard’s energy and enthusiasm immediately captured the 6-foot-2, 170-pound receiver’s attention, and while Gregory may not be as familiar with the Hurricanes as some more local prospects in the class, his contact with Beard left him eager to learn more about Miami.
“Coach Beard, he was talking to me, and I felt his energy through the phone,” Gregory said. “Even just talking through the phone, I felt his enthusiasm, because usually people aren’t that enthused early in the morning, because it’s the morning. I just felt like he had a good amount of energy, and he was just telling me about everything. He said, ‘I can tell you about all of this and all of that, but it’s easier to show you something and work with you more than to tell you.’”
Gregory loved his first impression with Beard, telling CaneSport he was surprised Beard talked to him the way he did despite never having met in person and having only watched his game tape. Gregory can’t wait to meet Miami’s staff face-to-face for the first time, which he hopes will be soon after the August dead period ends.
“(The offer) was a surprise, because that was my first time talking to anyone on Miami’s staff,” Gregory said. “He loved the speed, the hip change, the mobility, the route cuts and the way I can go get the ball. Those were the main things he told me.”
So how would Gregory rate his interest in the Canes after receiving the offer?
“I think it’s high, because I love a coach’s energy,” Gregory said. “I loved his energy, because if a coach has energy, he has energy to want to win. And when you want to win, you go out there and do your best.”
It’s far too early for Gregory to consider making a decision, but North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama and Florida State have stood out. He said he wants to commit to a school with a pass-friendly offense that will allow him to compete for playing time and recruits him intensely. Virginia Tech has also made a strong effort to recruit Gregory, and he wants to visit schools for games this fall.
CaneSport’s Take
Gregory is on pace to be one of the hottest commodities in the 2026 class and has already earned serious interest from championship-winning programs, and it’s unfortunate the Hurricanes weren’t able to quickly sneak the future blue-chip prospect to campus before the start of the dead period. The next six months will be crucial for Miami to secure a more permanent place on Gregory’s radar and set itself up for the long run.
