Miami offer moves the needle for On3 four-star QB Trever Jackson

Miami offer moves the needle for On3 four-star QB Trever Jackson

REDONDO BEACH, Calif. — Trever Jackson has a lot of college options, and that list is growing by the day.

Jackson, On3’s No. 17-rated quarterback in the 2024 class out of Winter Garden (Fla.) West Orange High School, landed an offer from the Miami Hurricanes after showing out in Day 1 of the Elite 11 Finals in Los Angeles.

Now, Jackson has a new offer to mull over and it’s one that’s already catching the four-star’s attention.

“Being a Florida kid, it’s a big deal,” Jackson told On3’s Jeremy Johnson on Thursday night. “It’s a big deal to be able to stay home. I know a lot of people at Miami who come from Orlando, and one teammate, a running back there, Terrell Walden, talks great about Miami.”

“Being able to stay in Florida is a big deal,” he continued. “The history of that program is huge. In the 90s, the Miami Hurricanes were all about it, so it’s a huge thing (to have that offer).”

Still in Los Angeles competing in the Elite 11 Finals, Jackson hasn’t been able to set up any visits. Missouri, a school Jackson was high on, landed their QB of the 2024 cycle in Aiden Glover.

Miami enters the mix as Jackson prepares to take a closer look at his options.

“I’m playing it by ear,” he said. “A couple of the schools I was planning to visit and looking into got commits the past few days. There’s been new changes every day, so I’m seeing how everything comes out in the end.”

Jackson among Day 1 Elite 11 top performers

Here’s what On3’s Cody Bellaire wrote about the four-star QB.

Trever Jackson is one of just two uncommitted quarterbacks at the Elite 11 Finals. After Wednesday’s workout, we wouldn’t be surprised if a more schools came calling. The Winter Garden (Fla.) West Orange signal caller easily has one of the livest arms at the event. The football detonates out of his hand. His ability to generate power with such little use of his lower half is extremely impressive in this setting. From a mechanical standpoint, he has room to improve. The footwork is unrefined and he struggles at times to tie his lower half to his upper body. But from a true arm talent perspective, Jackson could have the most raw talent of any player in Redondo Beach. He steadily progressed throughout the workout and ended Day 1 on the ultimate high as the winner of the rail shot challenge, making high level throws on demand. Jackson showed that he has all the physical ability to stand out at an event among the nation’s best. As a one-year starter with a later birthday, there’s considerable developmental upside with the On300 prospect.
