Miami not out of the race for local 4-star S Antonio Branch: “It’s never too late”
While communication between the Miami Hurricanes and Miami (Fla.) Northwestern four-star cornerback Antonio Branch slowed down over the last few months, that has changed in recent weeks.
Following the departure of former Miami staffer Tim Harris, who was Branch’s primary recruiter, new Canes cornerback coach Chevis Jackson has rekindled the relationship with the local prospect, who may take an official visit to Miami later this summer.
“I feel out of contact with them, but I’m back in contact with them now,” Branch told CaneSport. “It’s never too late for Miami. We lost contact because Harris went back to UCF and he was recruiting me there, but I’ve been talking to the new defensive backs coach lately.”
Since taking over the position of cornerbacks coach earlier this year, Jackson has made a strong impression on Branch, who is the No. 373 overall prospect in the 2025 class according to the On3 Industry Ranking.
The 6-foot-2, 175-pounder has enjoyed conversations with Jackson about his vision for the program and the type of defensive backs he is looking to bring to Miami.
“I like how he’s saying he’s coming to change the program,” Branch said. “He seems like a real good guy.”
While an official visit is not locked in yet, Branch explained that if he does take one to Miami the program will have shot up his list of double-digit offers. So far, Branch has locked in official visits with Penn State (May 31), Florida (June 14), and Louisville (June 21), but is also open to moving future dates around.
“I’ve been there so many times that I wouldn’t be looking for anything specific,” Branch said on his potential official visit to Miami. “If I take an OV there, that means Miami is in my top three.”
When Branch does announce his future commitment, he explained how relationships will have played a big factor in his final decision.
“I’m feeling good about things right now,” Branch said. “The main reason I will commit to a program is relationships because I’m big on that.”

Although Miami may be on the outside looking in at the moment, Branch is not closing the door on the local program heading into the summer. At the moment, it looks like Penn State is the team to beat in his recruitment and has the best chance to land his commitment. If Branch does come off the board, I do expect Miami to continue to recruit the four-star prospect.
