Miami joins growing list of programs to offer 2025 DB Javion Holiday
With a growing list of Power Five offers, 2025 Duncanville (Tex.) defensive back Javion Holiday is becoming a name to know in the Lone Star State, and the Miami Hurricanes have become one of the latest programs to offer the talented defensive back.
“If I do go to Miami, I see myself playing there bigtime,” Holiday told CaneSport. “Just trying to do big things and get a ring over there.”
Offering the Texas native was Miami defensive back coach Jahmile Addae.
“When I got the call, I was in class, but what he (Addae) was telling me was cool,” Holiday said. “He was just saying how my play style is similar to some guys in the NFL.”
The call between Addae and Holiday was the first time the two spoke, and the 6-1, 180-pound defensive back enjoyed his conversation with the Hurricanes second-year coach.
“We’ve spoken a bit on Twitter, but that was the first time I’ve gotten on the phone with him,” Holiday said. “I like how he was talking about me and my game. What I do well and some things that I need to work on, too.”
According to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Holiday ranks as the No. 368 overall prospect in the country, No. 39 cornerback in the nation, and No. 61 prospect in Texas.
Holiday’s recruitment bigger picture
Thus far, the junior defensive back has received double-digit offers, and he said programs such as SMU, Oregon, Texas, LSU, and Texas A&M are showing him the most love early on.
“It’s been kind of crazy, and a lot of schools have been texting me,” Holiday said.
When looking into a program, Holiday says early playing time and a genuine connection are two of the most important things he will be focused on throughout his recruitment process.
“The depth chart,” Holiday said. “Also, if I’m one of their top priorities and if they really want me there.”
With Miami in the mix, Holiday hopes to build a connection with not only Addae but the rest of the Hurricanes staff moving forward.
“I want to see them hit me up often and show that they really want me there,” Holiday said.
CaneSport’s take
Holiday is a talented defensive back who flashed tons of promise during his sophomore season at Duncanville last year. With a larger role in store this upcoming season, Holiday’s recruiting stock looks to be on the rise, and the Hurricanes are looking to establish themselves as a true contender to land the 2025 prospect early on.
