Miami Hurricanes talking to 4-star RB Kevin Riley “more than anyone” heading into official visit weekend

Northport (Al.) Tuscaloosa County four-star running back Kevin Riley, the No. 5 running back in the 2024 class and No. 80 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking, has largely kept quiet about his recruitment thus far through the cycle.
But Miami has done a few things to capture his attention heading into his June 16 official visit to Coral Gables.
The Hurricanes are speaking to the 6-foot, 192-running back the most of the schools still pursuing him, he says, as Miami continues to battle Alabama, Ole Miss, Auburn and others. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine lists Alabama as the leader with an estimated 30.5% chance to land the blue-chip prospect, but the Hurricanes have given themselves a decent shot.
“Miami stays recruiting me,” Riley said. “They’re always checking on me, always texting me to make sure I’m good more than other schools. They’re just always recruiting me, and they recruit hard. They’re talking to me more than anyone.”
Riley said he wanted to return to Miami this weekend for his second visit to campus to learn more about the Hurricanes’ business school, adding the coaching staff has frequently discussed both on-field and off-field opportunities the University can offer. But Miami’s program culture has captured his attention as well.
“I like how they run their program,” Riley said. “I like how they run their offense. Watching them in the (spring game), it was fun to see. I feel like they can have a real program turnaround coming up in the (next few) years.”
He hasn’t determined a timeline for his commitment and said it would be tough to say what he wants to see specifically on his Miami visit for the Hurricanes to make a real jump on his radar, but he wants a program to show they have a solid support system in place on and off-field, player development and “people that are willing to help you.”
CaneSport’s Take
This will be the second straight weekend Miami has hosted an elite running back on campus after bringing Jerrick Gibson, the No. 2 running back in the class, to Coral Gables last weekend.
Miami has positioned itself well with Riley, and although he’s been relatively quiet about the Hurricanes, the program has recruited its way into the mix thanks to a team effort from the coaching staff. Expect Miami to go all-out for a target the staff identified as a massive priority months ago.
