Miami Hurricanes ramping up contact with top-100 EDGE Amaree Williams: “Miami is definitely one of the top schools I’m interested in”

Miami hasn’t been the only school to turn up the heat on Palm Beach Gardens (Fla.) The Benjamin School 2025 EDGE Amaree Williams since Aug. 1, but the Hurricanes have done enough to make an early impression.
Williams has been on Miami’s radar for some time, but he started hearing from the Hurricanes weekly after coaches became permitted to directly contact 2025 recruits beginning Aug. 1. Miami is looking at Williams at both tight end and EDGE, although co-defensive line coach Jason Taylor has largely handled his recruitment thus far.
Williams is looking to visit Miami for a game this fall but has not locked in any dates. He most recently attended Florida State’s season opener against LSU in Orlando but would like to visit Hard Rock as well.
“Miami is definitely one of the top schools I’m interested in,” Williams said. “I can’t put an exact number of where they are on my list, but they’ve been recruiting me since the beginning of my sophomore year. What they’ve been doing for me in my recruitment, it means a lot.”
Georgia, Tennessee, Penn State, USC and Miami have made the most concerted recruiting efforts over the last month, although Williams said it’s too early for him to tell which are his top schools. He plans to visit Tennessee, Georgia and Kentucky for games as well.
“It’s just interest, really (Williams wants to see),” Williams said. “And repeatedly putting players in the League. …(Miami), it’s just the way that they’ve been able to do it over the last few years and how they’re putting players in the best positions possible for the NFL Draft.”
Williams isn’t sure if he would end up as a tight end or an EDGE at Miami, but the Canes’ coaching staff has repeatedly hammered home they want him to be a Hurricane and can offer experiences other schools can’t.
CaneSport’s Take
We’ve consistently heard former tight end Will Mallory’s emergence as the Hurricanes’ leading receiver last season helped spark interest from several elite 2024 and 2025 tight ends. And Miami’s skill and potential at EDGE this season, along with the addition of Taylor as the Canes’ co-defensive line coach, has caught the attention of multiple blue-chip prospects interested in being developed by a Hall of Fame pass rusher.
