Miami Hurricanes offer West Coast DL Hayden Lowe, who is looking to visit: “They need more pass rushers”

Los Angeles (Calif.) Oaks Christian 2025 three-star defensive lineman Hayden Lowe’s recruiting attention had largely come from West Coast schools before Miami offered him last week. But now that he’s landed an offer from the Hurricanes, he’s eager to learn more about the program and potentially take a trip to campus.

Lowe received his Miami offer a week ago after receiving a Twitter DM from Hurricanes co-defensive line coach Jason Taylor, who hoped to establish contact with the 6-foot-3, 227-pound prospect. Lowe called Taylor shortly after, who told him Miami’s staff loved his film, wanted to offer him and was ready to get the ball rolling.

Lowe holds nearly two dozen Power Five offers.

“He told me they need more pass rushers, and they like my style of play,” Lowe said. “He knows (the head coach at Oaks Christian) and what mentorship I’m coming from, so that’s basically why he said they offered me.”

Lowe’s reaction to his first offer from the Sunshine State?

“I was very grateful and happy,” Lowe said. “That was one of the schools I would definitely go to because of Jason Taylor. He’s an NFL guy, a Hall-of-Famer, so he’s somebody I can go down there, get very well developed and coached up by and hopefully get into the league.”

Lowe said Taylor told him the Hurricanes are looking to add more pass rushers in the 2025 class and loved his ability. Miami’s warm weather, the South Florida lifestyle, his coaches’ various connections to the program and the progress the Hurricanes have made on the field so far this season all helped spur his interest, and he’s hoping to take a visit to campus this offseason.

Washington, Notre Dame, Texas, UCLA and USC have made the strongest recruiting efforts and the strongest impressions on Lowe thus far, although he noted it’s still early in his recruitment. He plans to attend Washington’s home game against Oregon Oct. 14 but does not currently have any other game day visits set.

Lowe said the state of a school’s athletic program, player development and accessibility for his parents to attend games will all factor into his decision.

CaneSport’s Take

This is a small sample size of the kind of recruiting impact Miami fans envisioned Taylor having when he was brought on as a full-time assistant earlier this year: a prospect with few to no thoughts about Miami hearing Taylor’s name and immediately gaining interested in the program.

It looks like it will be a while before Lowe gets to campus, but Miami has earned a spot on his radar, which is as much as the Hurricanes can ask for here.
