Miami Hurricanes commit sets official visit date, has SEC school pushing

Shreveport (La.) Byrd High School PK Abram Murray is a Miami Hurricanes commitment, and he says he’s in regular contact with Cane coach Mario Cristobal and Marwan Maalouf.
He says both are excited about the prospects of continuing to add to the class.
“They are building this class 100 percent,” Murray said. “We have a lot of guys in our class that have a lot of talent. I think we can just build on that. The official visits are going to be key for Miami because everybody will get to come and see the campus and what Miami is all about. They’ll love that, we’ll get some commits.”
Murray has set up his own Miami official visit for the weekend of June 23.
“We’re excited for that,” Murray said. “All the commits are going to be there with me (that weekend), and we’re all on a group chat on Instagram – it’s going to be really exciting. Coach Cristobal wants us to all go that same weekend, 23rd to 25th. It’ll be good to build that bond with each other. And that helps with comfort as well.”
Miami isn’t the only program that continues its contact with Murray.
Arkansas is also making a big push.
“They are trying to get me up there,” Murray said. “I don’t know if I’ll go for an official up there or not. We haven’t completely closed doors but for most part are almost 100 percent satisfied with Miami, the whole staff. It’s exciting to be part of Miami’s 2024 class. And being the first commit, I want to stay true to that.”
As for his expectations for the Canes this coming season?
“This year I expect us to get a bowl game for sure,” Murray said. “I think that’s going to be the start to heading in the right direction for the program as a whole.”
CaneSport’s take
Murray makes it clear that Arkansas is more of an afterthought right now and he’s pretty locked in with Miami. He’ll be the heir apparent to Andy Borregales and says this offseason “I’ve added muscle and dropped some weight. I’m now 208-210 and have been working on explosiveness for my kicking.”
