Miami Hurricanes commit Abram Murray wowed by weekend official visit, “definitely trying” to get other visitors to join commit list

Shreveport (La.) C.E. Byrd three-star kicker Abram Murray became Miami’s first 2024 commit roughly 11 months ago. And after his official visit to Coral Gables this weekend, nothing has changed about his commitment to the Hurricanes.
Murray, the No. 3 kicker in the On3 Industry Ranking and a 6-foot-1, 180-pound prospect, is locked in with Miami after taking his only official visit of the summer this weekend.
“We had a great time,” Murray said. “The coaches were super nice, the hospitality was great,” Murray told CaneSport. “We got to see the players, guys that will be my friends, the next four years, a lot of the commits. We had a good bond already, and we’re definitely trying to get the guys who were here on an official to commit, too. It was great.”
Murray was hosted by snapper Mason Napper and punter Dylan Joyce.
“Mason, he’s super awesome, I love him, and Dylan as well,” Murray said.
Murray was Miami’s first commit in this class, and he says what sold him and keeps him sold is the staff along with the campus and overall program.
He also pointed to veteran NFL special teams coach Marwan Maalouf as a big plus.
“Coach Maalouf – he’s amazing, has been in the NFL 18 years, you can’t get past that,” Murray said. “Getting to the next level for all athletes going to college, so it should be easy.”
His final takeaway off the visit?
“It secures my spot here, honestly,” Murray said. “It made me and my family feel really welcomed. So we’re super excited for our journey.”
CaneSport’s Take
Arkansas was another program pushing earlier this year, for Murray, but he previously made it clear to CaneSport the Razorbacks were an afterthought. And that continues to be the case. After this weekend, there is no reason for Miami fans to sweat their kicker commit. Murray also spoke about his goals for the coming season. “Just going in, make a few field goals, feel good going into college. That’s the goal.”
