Miami Hurricanes amongst top schools for 4-star OL Jordan Seaton: “Expect them to be a real contender”

Miami Hurricanes offensive line coach Alex Mirabal was on hand at IMG Academy Wednesday evening for the Ascenders’ spring game and a big reason for that was to see offensive tackle Jordan Seaton

The four-star prospect recently transferred to the Florida powerhouse from Washington (D.C.) St. John’s College and the Hurricanes are looking to establish a strong connection with the No. 57 overall prospect in the 2024 class according to the On3 Industry Ranking

“That meant a lot having coach Mirabal come out,” Seaton told CaneSport. “Coach Mirabal is a great coach, and he knows his stuff. As everybody knows, Penei Sewell is somebody coach Mirabal coached, and he went first round, and we all want to go first round, don’t we.”

Along with seeing coach Mirabal, the 6-foot-5, 295-pound offensive lineman says he likes the idea of playing under Hurricanes head coach Mario Cristobal, who is a former offensive lineman as well.

“With coach Cristobal being an offensive lineman type of guy, that means a lot,” Seaton said. “I was talking to Mirabal, and he was saying that he’s hands-on. When you have a head coach that’s hands-on and knows the o-line spot just as much as the o-line coach, where else would you want to go?”

Seaton, who was offered by Miami last January, says the Hurricanes have recently amplified their recruiting push and that he is looking to get down to Coral Gables for a visit sometime soon.

“The Miami Hurricanes have kind of been a newcomer right now, and they’re pushing really hard,” Seaton said. “I want to get down there and visit before I put my finger on anything. But I expect them to be a real contender.”

According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, Ohio State is the current favorite to land Seaton’s commitment, leading all programs with an 88.8% probability. When looking for a program, Seaton says tradition and development will be his two biggest focuses.

“I want tradition,” Seaton said. “I don’t want to go to a new program with no background or foundation.”

CaneSport’s take

When asked what he wanted to see more of from the Hurricanes moving forward, Seaton simply answered greater communication, and it appears that they have done so by sending Mirabal to Bradenton to evaluate him. While the Hurricanes made his top 14 schools, Seaton believes Miami is near the top of the list and has a real chance to land his commitment. With no visit set to Miami just yet, Seaton expressed interest in going to Coral Gables. If the ‘Canes can get the elite offensive lineman down to South Florida, it should bode well for Cristobal and company.
