Miami, fellow Florida schools pushing for 2025 ATH Jade Card

Miami (Fla.) Norland 2025 ATH Jade Card has stood out to several Florida schools early after a strong sophomore year and encouraging performances at prospect camps this summer.
Miami, Florida State, Florida and UCF have all ramped up communication with the 6-foot-3, 190-pound three-star recruit who is being recruited by most schools at safety or receiver. Maryland has also been much more involved with Card since Aug. 1, when coaching staffs became permitted to directly call and text 2025 recruits. But the Hurricanes have stood out in a different way than the other four schools.
“Miami is definitely a consideration, because when you’re from Miami, you definitely want to be a part of the family and the culture,” Card said. “You want to learn more about the coaches and have relationships with the coaches.”
Other programs have told Card the player they believe he can become and how he can flourish in their offensive systems, but Card is in a show-me-don’t-tell-me position. He wants to monitor programs offenses this fall, although he mentioned he’s spoken heavily with Florida State this month. He’s largely spoken with Miami receivers coach Kevin Beard and senior quality control analyst David Cooney.
“They’re offering that I can grow as a player, that I can contribute as a player to the team, to the family, to the brotherhood,” Card said. “They tell me I’m fast, I’m big, I’ve got good hands and I can contribute.”
The Canes are looking at Card at either receiver or safety and think his size, athletic range and willingness to embrace contact could make him an ideal defensive back. He played defensive line at Hollywood (Fla.) South Broward before transferring to Norland which encouraged the Canes to look at Card as a defensive recruit, he said. Card added he feels more comfortable naturally at receiver, but if he has an opportunity to play defense, he wouldn’t hesitate.
Additionally, Miami’s position as his hometown school has carried weight in Card’s recruitment and has the Hurricanes among his top group of schools early on.
“It matters, because you’re from the crib,” Card said. “You want to put on for the city. You want to cherish it with your family and stuff like that. But you’ve got to see it from other people’s perspectives, where they might want to go, why they might want to visit (other schools) and see new things. But you still keep Miami in mind.”
CaneSport’s Take
Card stood out as a receiver at a Miami prospect camp earlier this summer, but his natural range and vision makes him an interesting safety prospect as well. He only worked out at receiver for Miami but was comfortable, in control and completed the camp without dropping a pass, comfortably looking like one of the better 2025 recruits Miami hosted.
