Miami commit Judd Anderson shines in Warner Robins debut and will be on hand for Hurricanes game vs. Texas A&M, has UM winning by 2 TDs
After spending last season and the beginning of this year at Jones County High School, Miami quarterback commit Judd Anderson made the move to Warner Robins (Ga.) two games into his senior year and has made an impact early on.
In his debut last Friday, the three-star prospect led his Warner Robins squad back from a 16-point second-half deficit, where he threw for 175 yards and two touchdowns in two-quarters of play in their 39-35 win over Northside.
“It was a great game,” Anderson told CaneSport. “Tuesday I moved everything into Warner Robins, and I just started getting a hold of the playbook, and it was very simple, and they kept it simple for me. We executed and got the win. Down 21-5 at the half was a great feat to come back from. We got some great plays on offense and defense and just made things happen in the second half.”
Making the move to a new program two weeks into the regular season of his senior year wasn’t an easy choice for Anderson, but after conversations with his family, he knew it was the right one.
“I’m loving Warner Robins,” Anderson said. “I’m loving the coaches there and just everything going on. It was really a family decision, and after we thought about it, we thought it was best for us. (They’ve) treated me well, and it’s been great. I’m really enjoying the coaches and all the guys around me.”
Along with his family’s approval, the Hurricanes staff also showed their support for Anderson as he made the quick transition.
“We talked about it when everything happened, and they were very supportive throughout the process and believed in me and my abilities,” Anderson said. “They know what’s best for me, and they know it’s a great program and a great school. It’s a state championship-caliber program, and that’s something they really liked.”
Anderson likes what he has seen from Miami so far
After watching the Hurricane’s 38-3 season opener win over Miami (Ohio), Anderson was excited to see Miami shine on both sides of the ball early on and is excited for what is to come the rest of the season.
“I thought they looked great just being able to move down the field and be explosive,” Anderson said. “Tyler did a great job just going through reads and delivering shots. He was very on time and very accurate. He played a great game, and the run game and offensive line looked amazing. That defense was special too, and all around it just looked great. Texas A&M is going to be a fun one, and I’ll be there for that one.”
Yes, Anderson, like many Miami commits and other big-time recruits, will be on hand for the Hurricanes battle against the Aggies. He has the Canes coming out with a victory in a hard-fought battle against Jimbo Fisher’s squad.
“I think it’s going to be exciting to see this offense explode a little bit more,” Anderson said. “I feel like (Shannon) Dawson was holding the tricks almost, but I think he’s going to do really good stuff against Texas A&M, and I think we’ll come out on top in a tough battle, 35-21.”
CaneSport’s take
With Anderson making the move to Warner Robbins and finding almost immediate success, that is something Hurricanes coaches and fans love to see from their lone quarterback commit in this class. Miami fans also have to love his game prediction.
