Miami commit Cam Pruitt to make first trip to South Florida since summer pledge: “I’m excited”
Theodore (Al.) 2024 three-star Miami linebacker commit Cam Pruitt hasn’t been back to the Sunshine State since he announced his commitment on his official visit in mid-June, but that’s set to change this weekend.
Pruitt will be in attendance at Miami’s Saturday game against Georgia Tech for his first game day visit to Hard Rock Stadium, and he couldn’t be more excited. Miami has remained in strong standing with Pruitt despite multiple SEC programs including Alabama showing interest this summer, and while he’s followed the Hurricanes on TV, watching them in-person for the first time will be a different experience.
He says he believes Miami will win 35-20 or 35-14.
“I’m excited to see my friends that I’ve made down there, my future football teammates,” Pruitt said. “I’m trying to see how Miami plays, how the defense is, and I’m committed to the school, so I’m trying to show love to the coaches by letting them know I want to be down there.”
Pruitt feels he’s grown close to four-star Miami running back commit Kevin Riley and three-star quarterback Judd Anderson, who were two of the Hurricanes’ earlier pledges in the 2024 class. He sees Riley around the state of Alabama due to their status as two of the state’s top recruits, and he texts Anderson regularly about football and life. He added he’s still locked in with Miami and feels good about his commitment.
Pruitt added he doesn’t feel he’s looking to get anything specific out of the visit or learn anything new about the program, instead hoping to simply spend time around his future program, teammates and coaches.
He said he isn’t sure if he’ll visit any other programs later this fall and is “just taking it day by day.” Pruitt additionally discloses any recruiting updates and planned visits to other schools to Miami’s coaching staff, which the Hurricanes haven’t objected to.
“They just say, ‘Okay, thanks for letting me know,’” Pruitt said. “They just appreciate that I’m telling them.”
Pruitt said he’s primarily focused on his senior season above all else and isn’t overly concerned about his recruitment.
CaneSport’s Take
Miami has reaffirmed its position with Pruitt time and time again throughout his recruitment, and the flirtation he had with Alabama over the summer doesn’t appear to have posed a major threat to the Hurricanes. He’s expected to keep his recruitment open until December, but Miami fans should have little reason to fret.
