Miami climbing for No. 2 IOL SJ Alofaituli following spring game visit

Miami hasn’t hid its interest in Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman four-star interior offensive lineman SJ Alofaituli. And after a spring game visit from the No. 2 interior offensive lineman and No. 64 overall prospect in the 2025 class, he’s continuing to like where things sit between him and the Hurricanes.

Alofaituli has kept in constant communication with Miami head coach Mario Cristobal and offensive line coach Alex Mirabal, both of whom have made the 6-foot-2.5, 290-pound prospect feel like a major priority to the Hurricanes. Alofaituli is also plenty aware of the recent recruiting success Miami has had at Bishop Gorman after signing prospects like four-star tight end Elija Lofton in 2024 and four-star EDGE Cyrus Moss in 2022, and through spring practices, he likes where things sit with Miami.

“It was a good experience, my first time being on campus (as a recruit),” Alofaituli said. “It was a great experience. A lot of love was being shown to me. It was just great. I loved the environment. I love the weather out here. It reminds me of home when I used to live in Hawaii. It was just a great experience. The spring game was cool. Everybody was looking great out there.”

Alofaituli has continued to receive a national recruiting push from programs including Oregon, Texas A&M, USC, Michigan and Oklahoma, all of which are still well in the mix for him. But he liked what he saw from Miami at Saturday’s spring game.

“My teammate, Elija Lofton, was out there doing his thing, which was good to see,” Alofaituli said. “It was a great experience overall. The campus, the campus is very beautiful. I liked it. And then the O-line room, the people they’ve got in that room, it was a great experience for me to see.”

Alofaituli also locked in an official visit with Miami during his visit but said he couldn’t remember the exact date. He said the Hurricanes are “pretty up there,” although he wants to continuing visiting other schools before he eventually makes a decision after his official visits.

Alofaituli is hoping to commit before the start of his senior season.

CaneSport’s Take

Miami has to be considered one of the strongest contenders for Alofaituli with summer approaching. I’d be stunned if Miami’s staff doesn’t additionally pay him an in-school visit during the upcoming contact period before his official visits begin as well.
