Miami building strong bond with 2025 wide receiver Jaylen Moore
Since earning an offer from the Miami Hurricanes in May, Westlake (Calif.) Westlake Village 2025 receiver Jaylen Moore has continued to develop his relationship with the program, which he says is near the top of his list early on.
Recently, the entire Hurricanes staff sent a handful of handwritten letters to the California native, which caught Moore by surprise.
“To be honest, it was crazy, man; I didn’t think Miami messed with me that heavy,” Moore told CaneSport. “We talk a lot, but I didn’t expect anything like this. Week by week, our relationship has been growing more, and I talk to more coaches and coach (Mario) Cristobal a lot more ever since I got the offer.”
Throughout his recruitment, Miami head coach Mario Cristobal has been extremely involved with the recruitment of the 6-foot-2, 165-pound wideout.
“He likes my play style and thinks I can fit well into his program,” Moore said. “I’m a go-getter receiver, and they like to air the ball out, so he likes that about me. It’s crazy because I feel like my talent is going up this year, and everyone is starting to notice. It feels great that coach Cristobal is reaching out and seeing some of my accomplishments right now.”
At the moment, Moore, who is currently unranked according to the On3 Industry Ranking and holds double-digit offers, says USC, Michigan State, and Miami are his top three programs.
“A school’s play style on the field is one thing I’ll be looking at,” Moore said when asked what he looks at the most when being recruited by a school. “Another thing that I look at is the connection with the coaches. That’s a big thing for my mom and the rest of my family. We want to feel at home when we go to a place, so connection is a big thing.”
Moore has built that oh-so-important connection with Hurricanes wide receiver coach Kevin Beard, whom he speaks with on a nearly weekly basis.
“We’re close,” Moore said. “Every time we talk, it’s very good vibes.”
With Moore’s recruitment starting to take shape and programs starting to amp up their recruiting efforts, whichever school can make Moore feel like the biggest priority may be the reason they win him over at the end of the day.
“Whichever coach shows the most love and wants to get me to the next level,” Moore said. Also, I want to see who puts me as their main priority. That’s what’s going to win me over, to be honest.”
CaneSport’s take
With Miami amplifying the recruiting efforts for Moore and showing him he is wanted in Coral Gables, this has piqued his interest in the program even more than before. Moore, who has not yet visited Miami, hopes to do so soon, which should help the ‘Canes chances to land the rising junior prospect.
“I haven’t been out there yet, but I’m planning to do so midseason to come see a game,” Moore said. “I want to see their weight program, a regular day in the life of a player at Miami, and the vibes outside of campus around the city.”
