Miami among programs standing out for Florida EDGE with official visits set

Milton (Fla.) Pace three-star EDGE Tylon Lee didn’t have a chance to visit every program he hoped to this spring, but the 6-foot-5, 210-pound defensive end has a few programs standing out after colleges’ spring workouts.

Miami, Florida State, Florida, Ole Miss and Mississippi State are all high up with Lee after he visited all besides Florida State over the last several months. The No. 418 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking and No. 37 EDGE currently has official visits locked in with Miami, UCF and Kansas this summer, adding he believes the three schools have found some additional separation for him. Lee said his spring visit to Coral Gables played a large role in elevating his interest in the Hurricanes.

“Miami getting after it (at practices) and stuff, the coaches having a good relationship with the players and pushing their players and everything (stood out),” Lee said. “It’s the culture. It’s just what they have there. It’s just amazing.”

Lee said tight relationships with UCF and Kansas’ coaching staffs have kept them in the mix as well. Both schools offered Lee early in his recruitment and have worked aggressively to maintain their relationships with the No. 41 prospect in the State of Florida.

Lee says he’s looking forward to his Miami official visit June 21.

“You know, I just want (these schools) to keep recruiting me,” Lee said. “Education is key, that’s always the main thing, then good connections on and off the field as well. I want somewhere where I can call it my home. I want a good relationship with the players as well.”

Lee wants to commit before the start of his senior season and could be ready to make an announcement by the end of June, he said. He has not locked in a commitment date and said he wants to make sure he visits the programs in which he’s interested.

CaneSport’s Take

It wouldn’t be a surprise if Lee locks in a few more official visits by the time the dust settles (like trips to Florida and Florida State along with potentially the two Mississippi schools), but UCF shouldn’t be underestimated here. Lee said he has a good connection with the Knights’ staff, although Miami has been sure to maintain plenty of communication with the three-star prospect.
