Miami 4-star WR commit Malachi Toney visiting Alabama this weekend
After reclassifying last week to the Class of 2025, Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) American Heritage four-star wide receiver and Miami commit Malachi Toney will be visiting another program this weekend.
On Monday, Toney tweeted that he will be at Alabama this weekend for the Crimson Tide’s game against Georgia. The trip is his first known visit to Tuscaloosa for a game.
Toney is the No. 307 overall prospect in the 2025 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also ranks as the nation’s No. 50 wide receiver and No. 44 recruit in Florida.
The 5-foot-9, 165-pounder committed to the Hurricanes in August 2023 over Ohio State, Florida State, Auburn and a number of others.
Toney has been a varsity player during each of his three years of high school, totaling 109 catches for 1,785 yards and 23 touchdowns in his career.
Toney is impressed by Miami’s early start to the season
The Hurricanes are off to a 4-0 start and back inside the top 10 of the national polls for the first time in a few years. And they’ve been doing in led by a scorching-hot offense and great play from their receivers. That’s something Toney very much likes to see.
“[Receivers coach] Kevin Beard told me that’s what they were going to do, so that’s what I expected them to do,” Toney told CaneSport. “He tells me what they do day in and day out, so that really wasn’t a surprise.”
He was in attendance for Miami’s 56-9 romp over Florida A&M and came away impressed by what they did to the Rattlers.
“It was a great game,” Toney told CaneSport. “They came out a bit slow in the first half, but they did their thing in the second half, and it was how it was supposed to be. A blowout.”
Toney himself is off to a strong start in 2024, pulling in 33 receptions for 490 yards and seven touchdowns in five games.
