Marcus Freeman’s message stands out to 2026 QB Noah Grubbs
Lake Mary (Fla.) High class of 2026 quarterback Noah Grubbs has quite the busy fall schedule with games on Friday nights and recruiting visits the next day.
The 6-3.5, 210-pounder visits Florida State Saturday. He’s been to Florida, Notre Dame, Miami, Virginia Tech and UCF already this fall.
On Sept. 22, he threw for 381 yards with 6 touchdowns, zero interceptions and a 68 percent completion percentage in a 42-7 triumph for Lake Mary. And first thing the following morning, Grubbs was on a flight to the Midwest to watch the pivotal matchup between Notre Dame and Ohio State.
“It was important to me to get up to a Notre Dame game because I wanted to see it for myself the environment on game day and what the fan experience is like from the stands,” Grubbs told Blue & Gold. “It exceeded my expectations for sure. I’ve never seen a more fan-based school than Notre Dame. And once I saw the Ohio State game on the schedule, I knew I was coming back.”
Grubbs mentioned that this was a return visit, as he previously made it to South Bend June 15, the date he participated in Notre Dame’s evaluation camp. He impressed the Irish coaches enough to pick up an offer from Gino Guidugli.
During his most recent trip, Grubbs had a neat moment with head coach Marcus Freeman that could leave a lasting impact on his recruitment.
“I was on the field before the game for pre-game warm ups and both Coach Freeman and Coach Guidugli came up to me, and we talked,” recalled Grubbs. “The coolest experience was when Coach Freeman told me, ‘I’m excited that you came here, but let’s make you stay here.’
“None of the head coaches that have offered me so far have straight up told me that. I’ll never forget that.”
Grubbs holds double digit scholarships as just a high school sophomore. UCF, Virginia Tech, Texas A&M, Notre Dame, Michigan, West Virginia and Miami are among the schools after him.
“Notre Dame is for sure one of my top schools, especially after what Coach Freeman told me,” added Grubbs.
He’s been outstanding to start his sophomore season, completing 87 of 142 passes (61 percent) for 1,627 yards with 24 touchdowns and 3 interceptions. He’s averaging 325 passing yards per game through five contests, and his squad is currently undefeated.
Grubbs private quarterback trainer is Baylin Trujillo, who previously gave his thoughts on Grubbs and the offer from the Fighting Irish during a conversation with Blue & Gold.
“Noah is a special talent that has all the tools including the ‘it’ factor that separates himself from his competition,” Trujillo said. “I told Noah just before the camp how important it is to get the opportunity to earn an offer from Notre Dame and how this type of opportunity could truly change a kid’s life — and he ran with it and had a great day.”
During his freshman season as a varsity starter, Grubbs completed 109 of 213 passes for 1,598 yards with 17 touchdowns and 6 interceptions.
